A decision made by the Americans was the first time the world witnessed the raw power of nuclear weapons. The first atomic bomb that was used in war was dropped on Hiroshima, for a few seconds something on Earth was 900 times hotter than the sun with a force of 13 kilotons.The end product of desolation changed the view of war across the globe. It was an to stop World War 2 in a single move invovling America and Japan, but not without a cost, scarring the world on the reality of nuclear warfare.

Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first humans on the moon. The first steps taken were by Neil Armstrong first, then Buzz Aldrin, the operation was carried out by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration which is an American government agency. During this time a rivalry boiled between the old Cold War rivals, the United States and the Soviet Union, to display eachothers technology in spaceflight for supremecy, and surely America won because of this astonishing achievement.

The wall dividing Berlin was erected in 1961 and symbolised the Cold War. The wall was erected by East Berlin, which was run by a communist government, to keep Western " fascists" from crossing over, potentially damaging their the socialist state. Primarily the wall served for stemming mass defections from East to West. When the head of the communist party in the East announced that citizens were now allowed to cross the border as they pleased the wall was brought down by the citizens.

The New Millennium, (also called Y2K) was a term used in the 1990's for when the world would enter the 3rd millennium and the 21st century. People thought that the year 2000 was an apocalypse, as at the time computers told the date with only the last two digits, when it came people thought that the technologies wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 1900 or 2000. Fear was biting at everyones mind, the fears of all their technological advancements crumbling back to the dark age.

19 militants of the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners, with intent to carry out suicide attacks and had specific targets in the United States. Two planes plummeted into the World Trade Center in New York City, one hit the Pentagon barely outside Washington, D.C and the last crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Over 3000 people were killed, this devastation would engrave itself as one of the most chaotic bloodbaths the century had ever experienced.
