Yalta Conference
The soviets wanted to take money from Germany to pay war reperations. After a lot of bargianing he Soviets, French, British, And Americans would pay certain reperations due to their involvement in the war. -
Postdam Conference
This was the conference to determine the end of the war. This was also the contnuation of the Yalta confernce earlier that year. All three leaders from Russia, England, Aand America cameto disscuss this matter. -
First A-Bomb droped on Japan
Hiroshima was the first site of an atomic bomb drop. This happended after America had reason to think they were going to try and take our land after pearl harbor. -
V-J Day
This was the day Japan offically surrnedered to the U.S. They surrendered onboard the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay. This is the day that is said instead of August 14. -

Was the speech that stood for diving Europe. This also marks the looming Cold Warthat is soon to follow. -
Truman Doctrine Announced
In this announcement Truman asks for help to support Grecce and Trukey from Communist nations trying to overrule. During this other countries that were supporting them along woth America backed out. -
Marshall Plan announced
This was the plan to provide aid to other European nations. over this 4 year span comminust nations had lost their appeal and European countries were now thriving. -
Berlin Air LIft begins
HWen American And British officals began to fly supplies into west Berlin. They brought everything including Christmas gifts. -
NATO Treaty ratified
When 12 Countries came together to sign a documanet ending the fighting. This reafiremed our comittment in eachother and are will as a unified force to always stay together. -
End of the Berlin Blockade
the Berlin Blockade was a time when east berlin blocked any supp;lies from going into west berlin. On this day Russia liffted its 11 month rule of this teritory. -
Soviets Explode A-bomb
This was used to test how powerful this bomb would be. They put up make shift buildings and even put animals in its path to see how well it would destroy these things. -
Communists Takeover China
Mao Zedong took northern China and Raised it as would Russia. When he saw a way to convert the rest of China he did. After that Communists ruled all of mainland China. -
Begining of McCarthyism
This is when Joseph McCarthy throw accusations at the communist party with no support. the term "McCarthyism has referred to the unfair tactic of accusing poeple of disloyalty without providing evidence" (McDougal Littlell 620). -
Julius and Ethel Rosenberg executed
They both executed after there were both found gulity of being communists. they were Jewish and radicals and used that to stop there prosecution with no aval To alot of people they were the ones who causeed some of the most deadliest clashes in the war. -
Warsaw Pact
This pact bonded several countries under a curtian that they would defend eachother. Defending eachother would be easy because Russia was the haed of all the Armies combinded in this Pact. -
Geneva Summit
This was the meeting between 4 countries to disscuss the end of the Cold War. At this confeence thaey didnt reach an end but people did think there was headway made in stopping the Cold War. -
Suez War
When Egypts president announced the Suez Company other nations surrounding it were shocked. Great Britian and France were apart of this and soon after the preident accused them of being nationalists and trying to turn his countrie into a colony. -
Hugarian Uprising
This was after several years under Russia rule even after Stalin died. Everyone was desperate for change and then when they thought they were in the clear things got worse. A new leader came into power and dint solve anything at all and combined with a bad harvest, fuel shortages, and a cold winter everyone started to demand their rights. -
Launching of Sputnik
This was the launching of a Soviet unmaned satilite. After the U.S. was tatalized by the Democrats for letting Russia get so far ahead so Rossevelt began his own. -
US U-2 plane shot down
After 4 hours in Soviet airspace a plane was shot down by soviet forces. After the man parachuted into Soviet territory they sentenced him to 10 years in prison. As a result of this the summit was cancelled and the two countries tension was at its peak.
