    The due process claim imposed the identical requirements on the states as the Fifth Amendment imposed on the national government. The court decided that the privileges and immunities applied to national citizenship rather than state citizenship.
  • Physician Assisted Suicide

    This is where a knowing person will give individuals the means to kill themselves. It is only legal in three states in the US and not practiced anywhere else. In New Mexico, a court ruled that the practice could not be done.
  • Obergefell v Hodges

    Marriage is a power/right reserved to the states, in 2015 the Supreme Court over stepped their power ruling all states must follow their rulings and allow gay marriage. This increased the federal government’s power and taking away power from the states.
  • US v Lopez

    A senior brought a concealed handgun to school and was charged by the state and then the next day the state’s charges were dropped and the federal government charged him. The court ruled that Congress had too much power in this case because this case had nothing to do with the commerce clause.
  • Nat. Fed. Ind. Bus. v Sebelius

    ObamaCare was brought to the courts by many states and the Court ruled that it violates the tenth amendment. The courts also ruled that it is not unconstitutional for Congress to oversee ObamaCare because it deals with commerce.
