    The Battle of Midway occurred 6 months after Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. The Japanese thought the Americans were not prepared for this battle, but naval ships came at them strong and defeated Japan. This left them surprised as Americans rode to victory.

    The beginning of liberation of Western Europe. American, British, and Canadian forces landed beaches on the coast of France. The Allies defeated the Germans which means Hitler wouldn't be able to build up his forts in France as he planned.

    The United States drops the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima. 90% of the population was wiped out and 80,000 people were killed by the explosion. The second bomb dropped in Nagasaki and caused about another 40,000 people to die. This forced Japan to surrender and was the end of World War 2.
