Concentration Camps
Nazis sent Jewish people to concentration camps because they were considered a threat to them. Most people in the camps were labor slaves and often worked to death. Germany started enforcing their anit-jewish laws. To this day certain jewish communities are still upset about what Hitler had done. -
Italy invades Ethiopia
Because of Italy's defeat in 1896 by Ethiopians, Italy decied to act on its own. They decied to invade Ethopia in 1935 and Ethopia lost because of the lack of new techonolgy. It had shown the League of Nations had no power to enforce or help other nations in need/desprate times. -
1936-1937
Spain had gone to a civil war that communists and nationlists fought against. People from other nations joined and supported both sides but the U.S, Britain, and France were neutral. the League of Nations had done nothing to stop the war and fascist dictatorship was still in rule and were also extremley powerful! -
Gremany still attacks
Hitler was going to make a union combining Austria with Germany but Austria's chancelor had refused so Hitler sent his army to and made speech indicating that he was the new ruler. He had technically taken over Austria because they didn't meet their demands and will do the same to anyone who opposed him even if he violates the treaty of Versailles -
Germany goes to Czechoslovakia
Hitler wanted Sudetenland but Britain and France were not willing to go to war to save it. Howver, Hitler increasaed his demands so Britain and France caved in to Hitler's demands to surrender Sudetenland so Hitler wouldn't exoand his territory Britain and France are not stopping Germany allowing him to take more and more territory without any resistance. This is what allowed Hitler more drive to take more territories. -
The Beginning of WWII
German Forces invaded Poland so Britain and France declared war on them. The advanced technology made war more unbearable in WW1 and it will get worse in WW2 This marked the beginning for WW1. The devastation it brings would become more horrific than ever before. -
First attack in Dundirk
Hitler launched attacks against Norway and Denmark. Britain and France had to retreat because of a surprise attack through the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. Hitler and his forces are more powerful than Britain and France had thought. Hitler would have the advantage and can force Britain and France into his hands. -
Stalin
Stalin had wanted wanted to spread comminsim and to make a buffer zone to have friendly governments. If he hadnt wanted to have friendly governments someone might have not had said anyting about it and had wanted to keep on taking over and keep on fighting. -
America gets involved
Roosevelt passed the Lend Lease Act giving any country that seemed vital supplies for war but he wouldn't be involve in war. Because if he had not given other cuntries supplies the war could have possiby taken a different turn. -
Hitler's attacks in the Early 1940s
Germany kept boming cities but could not gain superiortiy over Britain. Hitler sent troops to North Africa and took over while Italy had trouble taking over Greece because of German soldiers. Germany was proving it's pushing power in Europe and Africa. Nations would have to form alliances to try to have effort in defending from Germany. -
Japanese suffer
Japan suffered a set back because they were prevented from seizing several important islands. Americans sank Japanse aircraft carrier and serveral other ships. It showed how American and other nations had advanced in techonology. America is involved in the war. -
Japan's Struggle
The Japanese had large control over the Philippines and had 10,000 of their soldiers. The US's plan was to recapture some of the Japanese-held islands to get to the next objective This played a major in in triumphing over Japan. It also showed more of the cooperation with Britain because the US was making a blockade while Britain was attacking so Japan couldn't fight back as well. -
Nazi Genocide
Nazis' moved Jews to ther ghettos because of the oveerpopulated camps. The Jews began uprising in the ghettos but were quickly wiped out. The Nazis can't take out all of the Jews and it is possible for all the Jews to unite and fight back but the Nazi are dominant in military power. -
North Africa Battle
British troops fought Rommel and the Allies halted the Desert Fox's advance. Dwight Eisenhower took command of the Allied troops and was able to trap Rommel This shows the cooperation that the Allied powers have by letting them take control of each others troops. -
Germany gets Stuck in Between
America and Britain defeated Italian forces in the south while Italy was fighting over Mussolini with Germany. The allied forces were slowly pushing up the Italian peninsula but it was worth the effort because it Germany had to fight on another front. Germnany was becoming overpowered by the split fights between Italy and the Allies. The Italians became a great decision for the Allies to use againgst the Germans. -
D Day
Allies invaded France and clawed their way to the hedges of Normandy. Allies tried to pressure Gremany from all sides to free Fance. The allies were becoming succuseful in pushing Gremany back. -
Gremany was unrecognizable
The war had taken a major toll on the Cities and factories and many other bussiness around Gremany, over 20 million refugees had been wandereing around Europe. WWll had happen it had the same effect on them as WWl, so they had nothing changed within this war for thier own country in the end. -
Meeting with the Big Three
The three leaders agreed that the Soviet union woiud enter the war against Japan.they also agreed that Gremany would be divided. The allies were able to come to a complete conclusion but it had major distrust within each other. -
United Nations
The UN had played a great role in the time of was cause anyone in the 50 nations that had convened could vote on any decision they they had disucced. With this voting system put into place the nations could see what each one had wanted for its own country and they had helped eachother in the process. -
Bomb of all bombs
The Japanese would rather fight to the death than surrender. They would have squadrons of suicide planes to crash into the enemy. The Allied powers were creating an Atom bomb that would do catostrophic damage. The Japanese were willing to do anything which showed lots of nationalism in for their country. The Allies created the first Atom bomb and it would show to be the a terrible force for destruction. -
V-E Day
Allies were shaking hands as one by one, Hitler's forces were being annihilated. Hitler comited suicide knowing he couldn't win, underestimating the powers of the Soviet Union. This is victory in Europe when the Nazis are finally defeated. The US had developed more firepower than all of the Axis power and the Allies also triumphed over Japan -
Devastation
An American plane dropped the first Atom bomb on Hirroshima, Japan that would devastate the entire nation. Most who survived the blast would later die of radiation. The devastation of the bomb was so horrific that it was unsettling for some of the Americans. After the explosion nothing was left and the morale of Japan was low. -
Japan Surrenders
The Soviet Union declared war on Japan and the US had dropped another bomb in Nagasaki killing more and more people. After the second bominb the emperor forced the government to surrender and make a peace treaty. The end of the battle with Japan had finally ended but in catastrophe. The US had killed thousands of people with the most devastating bomb created at that time. -
Truman outlined a new policy to Congress
The policy was to make sure there was no more taking over lands and to have no more communism spread. The belief of comunism should be spread like any other belief because it is a way of a persons faith. -
Opposing Alliances
Many countires had formed a new military alliance called North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Without alliances like that war would constantly be going on becuase noone would help and fight with them but just try and take over them as well.
