On this day, Germany invaded Poland from the north and south. Poland soon declared war which started the begginging of Wolrd War II. -

Attack On Pearl Harbor
Early in the morning, December 7th, the japanese attacked Pearl Habor. Many of our men were sound asleep and were not prepared. This was a very successful attack and the destroyed most of our ships and planes except for the major aircraft carriers. This is what made us want to join World War II. -
Bataan Death March
This was the march of the American and Philpino POW. They marched 65 miles to a camp, but many of them died their. MacAuthur promised to return and get back the 10000 soldiers. -
Firestorm raid of Tokyo
This wasn't much of a battle. We just started to bomb the city of Japan with napalm bombs which caused around 75 deaths. -
The Doolittle raid
This was a small revenge attack on Japan after they attacked Pearl Harbor. We did not do much damage to Tokyo, but it gave us a reason to celebrate. -
Battle of the Coral Sea
This was a defensive battle as we protected Australia from Japans forces. -
Battle of Midway
This was a two pronged battle that happened near the islands of Alaska. The Japanese planned to trick us, but we were able to decipher their code and defeat them. We sunk 4 of their carriers and they only sunk one of ours. -
Battle of Guadacanal
This was mostly an all amphibious attack conducted by the marines. Guadacanal was a canal between the Solomon islands. We soon found out that Japanese do not surrender and fight to the death. It took us 6 months to win the war. -
Battle of Stalingrad
This was an attack on the town of Stalingrad. Joseph stalin did not want it to fall because of its name, so heavily fought for it. The Nazis wanted it mainly for resources and supplies, but Hitler also hated Stalin. This was Germanys last offensive battle. -
D-Day Attack on Normady Beach (Operation overlord)
The allied Forces were supposed to attack on June 5th, but due to the weather we held off one day. Many paratroopers dropped in the night before to start conducting tasks. The was a very bloody battle due to the fact that Hitler heaviliy gaurded these beaches. -
Attack of the Beachs in Normady (D-day)
This was an attack conducted by the allied forces on the beaches of Normady. It was a well thought out plan, but still had many causilities. The night before the paratroopers came in and took care of roads and traps. This battle is also referrefed to as Operation Overlord. -
Battle of Leyte Gulf
This is the battle where Douglass MacArthur finally returned to the Philippines. This war was all naval for the US. Japan was running out of weapon options, so they soon used Kamakaze which were suicide planes. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
This was a battle on an uninhibited island that was very close to Japan. It was flat, so we were able to use it as a runway. This was where we got the famous flag raising photo. This happened on the fourth day, but we still have 4 months of battling. -
Battle of Okinawa
This was one of the bloodiest battles due to the fact that we were quite close to Japans home island and they defended with many troops. This was an island right off the Main land of Japan. The U.S won and we planned to use the atomic bomb next. -
Battle of Pacific Theater
This was a battle after the Allies had won the war. It did not end though when we won. The main strategy was island hopping which was an effecient way to get to attack Japan. -
Hitlers Suicide
As the allies entered into the heart of Germany, Hitler commited suicide. He did not want to be taken alive because he knew what we would do to him. -
VE Day
Victory in Europe was the day that the Nazis ultimately surrended and were taken over by the Allies. -
Vj Day
After the bombing of their two important cities, Japan surrended and were taken captive by the Allies.
