    The goal of D-Day was to take down nazi troops and help liberate Western Europe. There were roughly 29,000 Americans killed and over 100,000 wounded or missing. For the nazi's there were only 4,000 - 9,000 recorded casualties.

    Germany Surrendered on May 7th, 1945 due to heavy fighting. On April 30th, 1945 Hitler killed himself. Berlin fell to the soviets shortly after. This led Germany to surrender.
