The bombing was a suprise attack on the on the American Pacific Fleet and occurred on December 7, 1941. It occurred on Pearl Harbor which is an island in Hawaii and the damage was concentrated on the battleships, aircraft, and other utilities in the sea. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor to gain territorial expansion. The attack led to the US participating in the war. -
The raid on Dieppe was primarily a Canadian operation which was supported by British forces as well. Dieppe was the name of the German town that was targeted for the raid. The goal was for the allies to seize the port-town and the reasoning for that was so they could gain intelligence and destroy key parts of the German attack. The assault was combined of all forces but due to many reasons, failed. It is both important and interesting to know that this failure shaped the execution for D-Day. -

D-Day was code name for Allied Invasion of Normandy, which began on June 6, 1944. It marked the largest assault in history and was a crucial truning point in the war. Aliied forces landed on five beaches along Normandy coast and began the liberation of the western coast from Nazi occupation. Open a new front in Western Europe. -
On August 9, 1945, the US dropped an atom bomb on Nagasaki, a city in Japan. The decision was made by President Truman and authorized by military. The bomb was a plutonium implosion bomb and the second one dropped. It occurred at the end of WWII and the primary reason for the bombing was to get Japan to surrender, therefore ending the second world war. The man who designed the bomb, Oppenheimer had many moral and ethical conflicts with himself before and after dropping the bomb. 80000 were dead. -

It occurred on August 6 of 1945 and was a critical moment in the pacific theater. The city of Hiroshima was targeted and the bomb was dropped by the aircraft Enola Gay. The decision to use the bomb was mainly so the deaths of the allies' wasn't prolonged. Kokura was the initial target but due to weather conditions and visibility, the aircraft had to bomb Hiroshima. -

The war in the Pacific continued on for longer than in Europe and came to an end when Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed. An interesting fact about the end of this war was that weather played a part in determining when D-Day was to occur as critical decisions had to be made to ensure the success of D-Day.
