    At 4:45 a.m., about 1.5 million German troops invade Poland all along its border. At the same time German Luffwafe bombed Polish airfields and using U-Boats and Warships destroyed the Polish Naval Forces in the Baltic Sea. This was the spark for the start of WII.

    Britain and France declare war on Germany
    Britain and France had sworn to defend Poland. Following these obligations, the two countries sent ultimatums to Hitler demanding his withdrawal from Poland. Hitler declined to respond.     Hitler gains victory over France
    On June 5, Nazi forces entered France along the Somme River and began a move south toward Paris, after just a few days they had reached the capital (June 14). The French government had abandoned the city, and the Nazis marched through the streets at people watched in shock and sadness.     Hitler wanted to bomb the RAF (Royal Air Force) and sent his Luffwafe to Brtain to bomb the Air Force. It was a foggy night and the pilot could not see very good. When he thought he was over it and dropped the bombs destroying London making Britain to fight back due to the pilot's mistake.

    Just before 8am about 200 airplanes bombed the harbor of Honolulu, Hawaii where the US army kept their naval base. About 2000 soldiers died and many more people were injured.   • The Battle of Okinawa

    The Battle of Okinawa
    This was considered the Bloodiest Battle of the Pacific using around 280,000 US soldiers to fight againts the Japanese resistance. They landed in Okinawa and saw many deserted airports but after days of searching they found the resistance and fought hard giving the name "The Typhoon of Steel"

    This date marks the surrender of Germany which meant that the WWII was over and liberation happened.
  • Hiroshima

    Hiroshima
    The Enola Gay took off from US to Hiroshima, Japan where the US military dropped an atomic bomb which they named Little Boy that killed more than 80,000 civilians but the Japanese did not surrender.
