  • Japanese invasion of China

    Japanese invasion of China
    This was the first cause of WWII . Japan invaded China to get natural resources (oil,coal) that they needed to build up their Japanese Empire . Japan took a large peace of land from China after defeating its army really fast . While this event was going on , Japan withdrew from League of Nations after breaking its rules . This also made Japan invade more lands in the Pacific Ocean that was a big sign for a new World War.
  • Germany's invasion of Poland

    Germany's invasion of Poland
    Germany invaded Poland after breaking the promises that Hitler made to the League of Nations , about not invading anymore territories. It took Hitler only a little bit over one month to completely take over Poland . Hitler invaded Poland first because he wanted to unite the german people as he call them "aryans". Almost 200,000 Polish people were dead after the invasion was completely succeeded .

    German Blitzkrieg
    A method the Germans used during WWII . It was used to attack the enemy's defenses really fast and not giving them time to recover . The Germans used this method in Operation Barbarossa to destroy the defenses and get them unable to comeback . Air crafts , tanks , and everything else was used in this method .

    A succesful German invasion of France during WWII. It was an imprtant invasion for the Germans in the beginning of the war and had many effect on it .
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa
    It refers to the Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union during WWII . It was the biggest battle on the eastern side . It occured after the Nazi - Soviet Pact was broken by Germany . Many effects happened , because it led to the Opening of the Eastern Front . But the Soviet Union gained the victory after huge losses in men , and military objects .
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    A Japanese attack against the United States naval base that led the US into WWII . Before that , the United States were only used to give logistical aid to the allies fighting in Europe . But the casualties of this attack made the US involve deeper in WWII . After that , the US started the war from Africa all the way up to Europe teamed up with the British and Canadians. This was a turning point that had many effects on the war till the end of it .

    Wannsee Conference
    A conference held in Belin by the Nazis to discuss about sending the Jews from the Nazi territories to Poland . Now it is a museum of the Holocaust .
  • Bataan Death March

    Bataan Death March
    When the Japanese made the American and Filipino troops go 65 mile to prison camps after the victory of Japan in the Battle of Bataan . 60,000 to 80,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war were sent to the prison . Many soldiers couldn't continue the 65 miles trek to the prison camps because of the harsh treatment of the Japanese guards . A lot of soldiers perished and that's why it was called the Bataan Death March .

    Battle of Midway
    A battle between the US and Japan in WWII which planes from American aircraft carriers blunted the Japanese naval threat in the Pacific Ocean after Pearl Harbor. This battle included a naval and air attack . It has often been called "the turning point of the Pacific", because it was the first major victory agains Japan which reducd their power in the next battles . This led the US for more victories in the Pacific against Japan .
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    A battle considered by a lot of people the turning point of WWII in Europe . It was the battle that made the Germans from the attacking condition to defending . This battle happened after the Nazis broke the Nazi-Soviet Pact , and the Germans started attacking the Soviet Union .
  • Operation Gomorrah

    Operation Gomorrah
    An attack by the allied power against Germany during WWII. This attack made many civilians die and almost destroyed the whole city of Hamburg .
  • Allied invasion of Italy

    Allied invasion of Italy
    A large operation in WWII where the Allies gained victory over the Axis Powers in Italy . The Allies started from Africa after defeating the Axis Powers there . It was a major loss for the Axis Powers and that Germany was alone by itself after that . Almost ten thousand soldiers were killed in total after the invasion was done . This event led the Allies all in Europe on the opposite side with the Soviet Union .

    The allies made a plan to attack the germans in the north of France in order to land there. Thousands of ships went all the way from England to the Normandy beach north of France . It is one of the most deadly battles in the history , because it last many casulties and losses .
  • Operation Thunderclap

    Operation Thunderclap
    Bombing considered to be very controversial because there are disagreements as to whether the bombing was a necessary military action . They were alo series of maximum efforts against cities in eastern Germany, partly to pave the way for the Red Army that would soon be overrunning that territory.

    A battle where Germany attacked the allies throught Belgium , France . This resulted a big loss for Germany in Belgium and France . This battle made the Allies go deeper toward Germany .
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    A battle between the US and Japan which resulted as a win for the US, and the US captured the island of Iwo Jima . Aircrafts and ships were used in this battle .
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Battle of Okinawa
    A battle considered one of the biggest during WWII fought on the island of Okinawa between the US and Japan . Okinawa was a well defended island that the Americans needed to capture as they advanced across the Pacific towards Japan. It included a naval battle , air battle , and land battle . This battle cost thousands of casualties from both sides . At the end , the result was a vectory for the US .
  • VE day

    VE day
    This refers to the victory in Europe day during WWII . After the Red Army and the other Allies invaded Germany from both left and right sides and claimed victory in Europe . This event is also considered as holiday on May 8, 1945 . This meant the end of the war in Europe that last many deadly years . Even now , this event is celebrated throughout many countries as a great historial event .
  • Dropping of the atomic bombs

    Dropping of the atomic bombs
    The first atomic bombs were dropped in the japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki . This event cost over 200,000 people killed in total . A deadly destruction occured in those two Japanese cities that wiped everything . The US thought that this was the only way to stop the war because it was very hard to make Japan give up . After the second atomic bomb was dropped , the Japanese gave up and it was the end of WWII.

    VJ Day
    This refers to the victory day in Japan . It completely meant the end of WWII after the surrounder of Japan . Japan gave up after the two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And led to the death of a lot of people . This is considered on of the greatest days , because it meant the end of WWII .
