    13.Japan attacked Manchuria because it was rich in coal and iron, even though the Japanese parliament told them not to. This attack was big because it was the first challenge for the League of Nations. This was also when Japan left he League of Nations because whatever the League said didn't matter if they didn't have the power to enforce it.
  • Nuremberg Laws

    12.The nuremberg laws were made by the Nazis as a way of gaining control over the Jews. The laws took away all of the rights that the Jewish people had and their right of being citizens of Germany. The Germans also made them wear yellow stars so that everyone knew who was Jewish and who wasn't.

    14.Germany was becoming more powerful out of both France and Belgium, causing Germany to gain a bigger military and to speed up the expansion of their territiory. Mussolini saw this and decided to become allies with germany. They became known as the Rome-Berlin Axis.

    11.This event occured after Herschel Grynszpan killed an employee from the german embassy, because his father was deported back to poland where Herschels father is originally from. After germany heard of this, they began to attack the Jews home and businesses. This all becam known as Kristallnacht or the night of broken glass.

    1.Was a surprise attack on Poland by Hitler after the nonaggression pact removed the threat that the Soviet Union had on Germany. Germany had tanks, 1.5 million soldiers, planes, and bombs that fought against Polnads militia. This began WWII.

    2.Stalin and the Soviet Union conquer Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland after an agreement was made with Hitler in secrecy. At the time, Finland was the only country that actually put up a fight. The fight occured in the winter and even though Finland was outnumbered, they knew how winters were in Finland, so they used their "snow gear" to their advantage against the soldiers sent by the Soviet Union.
  • France Surrenders

    3.The French surrendered to the Germans because they knew that they weren't going to win against the german army. When the french surrendred, Germany took the northern half of the country and left the other half of the country to Petain. while all of this was going on, french general, Charles de Gaulle fled to london to find a way to reconquer France.
  • Lend Lease Act

    5.This act allowed the U.S to lend its weapons and supplies to any country that was associated with the U.S. When Hitler found out about this, he told his submarines to sink any U.S ship that they came across. The U.S was not apart of the war at the time but when their ship was shot, the U.S responded by having an undeclared Naval war with Hitler.

    4.This battle was actually many battles between the German and British air forces over who would have Great Britain. During this battle Hitler called off his attack because th british were doing a pretty good job at resisting the Germans. From his battle, the allies figured out that their is a way to stop Hitler and his army.
  • German invasion of Soviet Union

    7.The Germans invaded the Soviet Union on a sunday morning. The Soviet Union didn't know that they were ging to attack, so they weren't prepared for the attack. The Russians evacuated but as they left, they burned everything so that Hitler wouldn't get any thing. Pretty soon winter came along and froze all of the Germans oil making all of the weapons useless but they didn't retreat, causing them to lose 500,000 soldiers.
  • Atlantic Charter

    6.This was a charter that was made between Roosevelt and Churchill, that stated that these two leaders will have a joint declaration. This charter allowed free trade between the countries and it also allowed the citizens of the country to choose what kind of government they wanted. It became the peace plan at he end of the war.
  • Pearl Harbor

    15.The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor sinking and damaging 18 ships, injuring 1,000 people, and killng 2,400 Americans. The Americans knew that japan was going to attack, but they didn't know when or where the attack was going to happen. The very next day, war was declred on Japan.

    20.After the attack on pearl harbor, the Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps. They were considered aliens to the other americans which is another reason they were sent away. Also, 2/3 of the 31,275 Japanese were actually american born citizens that had parents who were Japanese.
  • Battle of Midway

    16.A battle that occured in the air and in the sea between the Americans and the Japanese. The battle began when the Americans found out hat the Japanese were heading to midway because that was their next target. The Americans met the Japanese there and even though they were outnumbered, the Americans planned an ambush that might give them an advantage. The resut of the battle was that the Amricans defeated the Japanese.
  • Allied invasion of Italy

    8.After Stalin told the allied foces to invade france, Roosevelt and Chrchill decided to attack Italy. The allied forces attacked Italy and caused Mussolini to lose power. Germany then gained control of a piec of Italy, put Mussolini back into power, and retreated from the northern parts of Italy. The americans eventually caught up with the Germans, killed Mussolini and hung his body in the Milan town square.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    9.This was when the allied forces started to invade the European mainland. The americans and the Germans fought on a beach in Normandy that killed 3,000 american soldiers. Even though the americans lost soldiers, the Germans were the one that retreated, allowing the americansto liberate France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Once those countries were liberated, the Americans set their eyes on Germany.

    10.The war was nearing the end in Europe and all of the allied forces were heading towards Berlin. In Berlin, Hitler wrote his last words while hiding in an underground headquarters with his wife Eva Braun. His last words blamed the Jews for everything that has happend and he also said that what he did in the world was good and that he will die a happy man. Two days after he wrote his last words, hitler poisoned and then shot himself, and his wife poisoned herself.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    18.The U.S dropped a bomb in Hiroshima as a warning of what's to come if Japan doesn't surrender. Hiroshima containd 365,000 people, and out of that, 73,000 died frothe attack.
  • Bombing of Nagasaki

    17.This bombing occured three days after the first bomb hit Hiroshima. This bomb hit Nagasaki, a city of 200,000, and out of that population, 37,500 died from the bomb. Radiation killed mare people shortly after.
  • Japanese Surrender

    19.The Japanese surrendered on the battleship called Missouri to the General Douglas MacAuthur. The surrender of the Japanese officially ended the war. All that was left to do was to figure out a way of rebuilding the war-torn world.
