On 30 January 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany. Before that he tried forcing himself into being Chancellor but he got thrown in jail. Once he got out though the people voted for him as chancellor.

On September 1, 1939, Germany invaded Poland. The Polish army was defeated within weeks of the invasion and completely destroyed and weak. This invasion leads to World War 2.

On May 13 in his first speech he was determined that britain was never going to give up. Britain stood alone against Nazi Germany, but Churchill promised his country and the world that the British people would “never surrender.” They never did.

Italy lacked raw materials, and Mussolini was suspicious a war was going to happen so he wanted to start getting his army ready. On June 10, 1940, Mussolini declared war on France and Great Britain. This decision brought italy into WWII.

On June 17, 1940, the French signed a petition and quit World War II. Britain now stood alone against the power of Germany’s military forces, which had conquered most of Western Europe in less than two months. Winston churchill promised that they would never give up and they must fight.

On August 23, 1939-- before world war II began and spread all over europe-- Nazi germany and the soviet union signed a non aggression pact (where they take no military action against each other) Stalin viewed this as a way to build his military. Hitler viewed this pact as a way to invade poland unopposed. It was broken after 2 years.

hundreds of Japanese fighter planes attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor near Honolulu, Hawaii. this attack caused a lot of damage such as destroyed planes, enormous ships, and thousands of lives lost. After a day the US declared war on japan. Japans allies Germany and Italy joined. After 2 years the US joined WW2

The surrendered Filipinos and Americans were gathered up by the Japanese and forced to march 65 miles. They were separated into groups and each group took 5 days to complete. thousands of ppl died because of the torture of their captors, who starved and beat the marchers, and stabbed those too weak to walk.

It was the first battle over a sea. Japan wanted to take over coral sea. When japan landed they were attacked by america. although both sides suffered a lot of damage japan didn't have enough planes which led to the opposing team's victory (us)

Because of his sudden death his vice president truman took over. The problem was Truman didn't know the decisions FDR took or the petitions he signed so he was clueless. FDR's death is what led to the two bombs being dropped on japan.

Hitler committed suicide because he was paranoid that the Russians would capture him so he asked a doctor whats the best way to die he said capsule and gun shot. He said goodbye to everyone and shot himself his wife then killed herself too.

The Japanese navy and air force were destroyed. The Allied naval blockade of Japan and intensive bombing of Japanese cities had left the country and its economy devastated. Japan realised they would be left with nothing if they continued war so they surrendered.
