  • Germany invades Poland - and this is the start of World War II in Europe.

    In 1939 Germany invaded Poland. This caused WWII to start in Europe. Germany broke Poland's defenses and went to the capital. Germany wanted to get their lost territory back and they tried to take over and rule there. Sadly after many deaths and bombings the capital surrendered to Germany.
  • Germany launches airplane attacks - called the Battle of Britain.

    This was a battle between Britain and the Nazis. The Nazis air force attacks Germany. The British had a good air force so it was easier for them to fight back. Not all Britains pilots were British they were from over the world like Australia.
  • Japan attacks the United States naval (ship) base at Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii.

    On 1941 Japan made a surprise attack in Hawaii. This attack killed about 2000 people and this stunned the U.S. This attack seems to have more history because the U.S and Japan already has some problems from decades ago. Japan bombed for nearly 2 hours and it hit U.S ships and people.

    As the Allies move toward Germany, German soldiers fight back in the Battle of the Bulge.

    This war is called the greatest American battle of the war. This was Adolf Hitler's last attack during WWII.This battle lasted about 6 weeks and it happened when the weather wasn't so good. The nazis sent imposters and did secret things.
  • U.S. troops land on the island of Iwo Jima, in the Pacific Ocean.

    On 1945 the U.S marines landed on the island of Iwo Jima. They encountered a couple of issues like, the island was basically made of volcanic ash and it made it difficult for them to get on the island. They had a battle lasted 5 weeks. This caused multiple deaths and mostly the Marines.
  • U.S. troops fight on the island of Okinawa - and prepare for a full-scale (huge) invasion of Japan.

    This was the last major battle of WWII. There were 4900 deaths and 4000 injured. The U.S tried to shut down the planes but they couldn't. About 180,000 US army and navy invaded the island.
  • The U.S. drops atomic bombs on civilian (non-military) populations in Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    The US bombed to Japan on August 6 and 9 of 1945. The cities that they bombed are Hiroshima and Nagasaki.There were a lot of deaths, over 100k deaths thanks to this bombing. The places that were bombed were chosen because of different reasons. Hiroshima because of their military importance and Nagasaki was just bombed days after the first tragedy.
