  • Black Tuesday - Stock Market Crash

    Black Tuesday or the Stock Market Crash of 1929 is the most devastating stock market crash in US history because of how long it lasted and the effects of the crash. The crash is viewed what started the Great Depression started in the Western World. June 29, 1930

  • Holocaust Begins

    Holocaust Photo
    The Holocaust was the genocide/extermination mission of the roughly six million Jews during WWII. This event is signifigant in history because of the gorish treatment that the jews faced in concentration camps: imprissenment, being seperated from family, and eventually being killed in the most efficient way the Nazis could think of. :P
  • Invasion of Poland

    The Invasion of Poland was when the Germany army blasted through the Polish defences and rendered tehm obsolete. This INvasion is viewed as the event that started the war because it interfeared with the trade routes of England and meant that Germany had a major port, this also meant that the Germans were heading towards Russia to attack. This also broke the terms of their agreement with the UN (This time they couldn't ignore the reality that they needed to step in.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg was the sudden and extremely powerful military startegy that Germany decided to use to try and defeat England. It was an airial assualt on a major population and changed the course of warfare, making it so that civilians who had previously not been involved in the war begin to count in the casualty numbers.
  • Churchill Becomes PM

    Winston Chruchill was the Prim Minister of England and widely viewed as the man that pushed England through the war and to victory. He was well known for his radio broadcasts during the time that inspiried the British People to keep moving forward to victory.
  • Battle of Britain

    Airplanes
    The Battle of Britain was the first major fight carried out by air forces. The British strategically bombed the Germans and took back control of their air space.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the largest invastion in warfare history. It was the invasion of the Axis Powers along a 2900 km front of the USSR. Hitlers hope was that he would have this huge atttack and that he would be able to get his troops back in time to compat the Allies.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was the attack that led the US to join in WWII, it was conducted by the Japanese of the navel base at Peral Harbor Hawaii. The US was shocked and emideately joined in the War afterwards.
  • Allied Invasion of Sicily

    The Allied invasion of Sicily was a joint effort by the allied forces to take over sicily (it took 6 weeks of ground fighting to accomplish). The aim of obtaining sicily was the take down Mussolini, they eventually accomplished their goal.
  • D-Day

    D-Day is the Normany landings and the event that led to the Allied victory of the war. The kew to this success was the trickery that took place, fooling Hitler into thinking that they wre landing farther North, it landed allied forces in the front of the fight with huge numbers.
  • Tokyo Night Bombing

    The bombing of Tokyo was the bombing by US troops on the city of Tokyo using bombs that ignited the roof of the tokyo leading to the entire city being engulfed in blames and smoke. Considered the most devistating bombing raid in history. 10,000 bombs are thought to have dropped.
  • Hiroshima & Nagasaki

    Hiroshima
    Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the dropping of the atomic bombs on these major cities killing a total of 150,000+ dead (atleast). This is the event that defeated the Japanese in the war and changed the face of warfare forever becuase of the mass destruction that occured.
  • VJ Day

    Victory over Japan Day is the day that is celebrated for when the Japenese surrendered to the US but the official treaty wasn't signed until 2 weeks after.
