  • Japanese invasion of Manchuria

    Manchuria is located on China’s Eastern seaboard. Japan was having a hard time with limited size as a nation and was overcrowded with people. So the Japanese attacked Manchuria to gain rich farmland and more land for the increasing population.
  • Hitler is made chancellor of Germany

    Hitler was running for Chancellor in Germany. He had promised the people it will be better and that he would help. He was elected due to his great speaking skills and this lead to his victory.
  • Anschluss

    Anschluss is German for union. Hitler wanted to unite all the German-speaking areas like Czechoslovakia and Austria for example. These were the beginning of Hitler’s wanting and start to taking over.
  • Kristallnacht

    Kristallnacht was also referred to as “Night of Broken Glass”. Certain German people had gone out during the night and had smashed a lot of windows from business’ and homes owned by Jewish people.
  • Invasion of Poland

    Hitler has been invading and concurring area with nobody stopping him or taking action other than sending his strongly worded letters. A couple days after Poland declares war against Germany, this is the beginning of World War Two.
  • Dunkirk

    The Battle of Dunkirk was between the Allies and Germany. Germany had pushed the Allies to evade and evacuate to the beaches of Dunkirk.
  • Bataan Death March

    After the three month war of Bataan, the Japanese took the Filipino and American prisoners on a march to Camp O’Donnell. It was a 280 km march to Camp O’Donnell. The Japanese would kill off any sluggish or dying prisoners because the Japanese believed that they had disrespected their family by surrendering and didn’t think twice on killing the prisoners.
  • Battle of Midway

    The battle of midway was one of the most important naval battles in the war. It had taken place only 6 months after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. This was revenge sought by America to weaken and take out their naval fleet, and did a great amount of damage to the Japanese naval fleet. This was the worst defeat naval defeat towards the Japanese in 350 years.
  • D-day

    D-day was an invasion to take ahold of Normandy in France. Up to 5,000 ships aided in defeating the heavy fortified beach of Normandy, held by the German Nazis. The Allies had taken a foot-hold of the beach and pushed the Nazis back.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    The Battle of the Bulge was Germany’s last offensive battle towards the allies. This battle was Hitler’s last attempt to split the Allies in two and pushed them back off from their decent to Germany to cut off their supplies.
  • Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference was sometimes called the Crimea Conference and codenamed the Argonaut Conference. It was a wartime conference between heads of the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and the Soviet Union. They got together to agree on postwar agreements.
  • V E Day

    V E Day is short for Victory in Europe Day. This was announced as the end of World War Two in Europe.
  • Bombing of Hiroshima

    The United States modified a B-29 to carry a 15-foot nuclear bomb called the “Little Boy”. The U.S. dropped this bomb on Hiroshima and flattened the city killing tens of thousands of civilians. This leads up to the end of the war.
  • V J Day

    V J Day is short for Victory over Japan Day. This officially ended World War Two when the Japanese surrendered.
