    160,000 allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. Of which included 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft. More then 9,000 aliied soldiers were killed or injured but by days end the allies had gained a foot-hold in Normandy.
  • The liberation of Auschwitz.

    In mid-January allied forces began to close in on the Auschwitz concentration camp.
