  • German Blitzkrieg

    The German blitzkrieg was tactic used by the Germans in WW2. It was a strategy used to quickly break through enemy lines and take over areas of land. It was spearheaded with tanks and planes followed by infantry to overwhelm defenses. It occurred because Germany wanted to be able to take over land quickly and led to many countries being quickly taken over
  • Fall of Paris

    The French people surrendered after Germans took many of cities including their capital. It happened so fast because of German tactics that quickly moved men and armor to capture areas. It took French out of the war without much of a fight and took out one of Germany's enemies.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor
    The Japanese bombing that crippled most of the American fleet, they did it in hopes that America would be frightened and stay neutral in the war. America however, did not stay neutral and joined the world war the next day. This eventually led to Japans defeat
  • D-DAY

    D-DAY
    The allied amphibious attack on the German forces in France. It resulted in massive casualties for the Allies but they did complete their mission; gaining a foothold in Europe. It allowed the allies to be able to set up operations and started the downfall of Germany
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Battle of the Bulge
    The last major German offensive during the war. It war a major attack launched at the allied lines pushing them back, creating a bulge in the lines. The Americans ultimately repelled them after over a month, with heavy losses on both sides. The outcome led to Germany having even fewer resources and they never launched a major offensive again
  • Liberation of Concentration Camps

    The allied troops liberated the prisoners that were being kept in the German camps. The allied troops were searching and invading when they found most of the camps. It led to many people being able to survive the war and those camps after being liberated
  • Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jima
    The battle was an attack on a Japanese island part of the US island hopping maneuver to get closer to Japan. The island was taken after heavy losses. It showed the U.S. that the Japanese would fight to the death and that the campaign was going to be costly to them
  • VE day

    VE day
    The surrender of Germany ended the war in Europe. It occurred after Hitler committed suicide and Germany unconditionally surrender. It was what ended the war in Europe
  • Dropping of Atomic Bombs

    Dropping of Atomic Bombs
    The U.S. dropped two atomic bombs on Japan. They killed hundreds of thousands and led to those areas becoming inhabitable. It made Japan surrender in fear of another bomb. It occurred because the U.S. government did not want to launch a land invasion of Japan because of the horrendous casualties that they would face
  • VJ day

    Victory in Japan occurred after the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japan, It was when japan surrendered and led to the conclusion of the entire war.
