    This pact was between the Germans, and Russians. Hitler and Stalin agreed to leave the other alone. The two also had a scheme that they would distribute land from Poland between them. (“World War II in Europe.”)

    Germany invades Poland by using a lightning strategy (blitzkrieg). Poland is suprised, and therefore they were unprepared. Britain and France declare war on Germany when the plans to negotiate a withdrawal fails, WW II begins. (“World War II in Europe.”)

    July 10th 1940 was the beginning of the battle of Britain. The battle lasted three long months, was not a ground battle it was an areial battle in the skies over Britain. Britain won the battle and this would be Germany's first defeat. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • The Attack on Pearl Harbor

    The Attack on Pearl Harbor
    This event was the breaking point for the United States entering the war, Japan was the country who attacked on Pearl Harbor. Predident FDR declared war on Japan on the 8th of December. On December 11th Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad
    Stalingrad is the Russian city that Germany invades in August 1942. The battle lasted for 6 months, the Red Army is who defeats the Nazis that invaded Stalingrad. This battle is thought to be the turning point of World War II, and Germany begins to retreat. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • The Meeting of The Big Three (Tehran Conference)

    The "Big Three" are Stalin, Roosevelt, Churchill. The three meet in Tehran, Iran to discuss the attack on Italy. This is the first time these three have met eachother in history. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • Allied Invasion of France

    Allied Invasion of France
    They will do this invasion by placing soldiers in England, and the soldiers with cross the channel into France. This effort became known as Operation Overlord. Before they invaded Eisenhower waited on a day with perfect weather. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    160,000 soldiers and 30,000 vehicles are put on a stretch of French Coastline. They begin fighting in Normandy along the beaches. Allies take control of France's port city Cherbourg, but Germans left the city with a lot of traps and destroyed it. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • Battle of The Bulge

    Battle of The Bulge
    It looked like the war was going to end in Europe, soldiers were becoming less stressed and starting to enjoy themselves. Mid December Hitler retailiated against a counterattack, that is known today as the Battle of The Bulge. The Battle lasted for about two months, and it is said there were 16,000 American soldiers killed, and Germany had close to twice that. (“World War II in Europe.”)
  • The Yalta Conference

    The Yalta Conference
    This conference lasted from Febuary 4th through the 11th, and was the last meeting of the big three. The conference id held in Yalta a Soviet city, in this conference Churchill and Roosevelt agreed on letting Stalin control the Eastern Europe when the war ends. This event is said to be one of the causes of the Cold War. (“World War II in Europe.”)
