WW2 TIMELINE

  • JAPAN INVADES MANCHURIA

    Japan invaded Manchuria following the Mukden Incident. The Japanese Imperial Grande Headquaters went against the orders of Tokyo and invaded and quickly took it over. The importance is that this expands Japan but it leads to US boycotting Japan goods.
  • ADOLF HITLER MADE CHANCELLOR OF GERMANY

    Adolf Hitler wins election and is made Chancellor of Germany with the Nazi Party and starts to rebuild the Military. this is important for germany because this is when things start to change for them
  • THE ANSCHLUSS

    German Troops move into Poland to declare Anschluss. Hitler thinks that all germans should be under one flag so he takes a vote and 99% want to be united with Germany. the importance of this is it makes te german people behind hitler's ideas
  • KRISTALLNACHT

    Jewish citizens were killed by Nazi Officials and put in concentration camps. It was a series of attacks throught Germany and is important because it starts to make the german people hate jews even more and agree with hitler
  • INVASION OF POLAND

    Germany and Russia invade Poland and end up spliting Poland in half.
  • DUNKIRK

    This was a important battle in WW2. As part of te Battle of France on the western front, it was an evacuation and the defence of the British and the Allied Forces. It was important because it allows over 2 million allied soliders to get off Dunkirk Beach.
  • PEARL HARBOR

    Japan does a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor and destroys the entire pacific naval fleet. It is important because that is what gets the US in WW2
  • BATAAN DEATH MARCH

    The Japanese Army made thousands of American prisoners of war march about 80 miles to reach there destination which was Camp O'Donell. about 2,500 soliders died on the march. The importance is it is the largest surrender by the US in history but also because the US soldiers were treated brutally and it was considered a war crime.
  • BATTLE OF MIDWAY

    It was the biggest naval battle and the US won. It was a stunning and crippling blow to the Japanese fleet. The entire Japanese fleet was destroyed. The importance is the crushing blow to their naval fleet.
  • D-DAY

    160,000 Allied Troops landed on the Normany beaches stretching over 50 miles long resulting in the biggest and bloodiest battle of WW2. The Allied Troops took back Normandy and 100,000 soliders started their march into Europe to defeat Hitler.
  • BATTLE OF BULGE

    It started Dec. 16, 1944 and went to Jan. 25, 1945. It was a German offensive attack that caught the US off guard and was one of the most costliest battles for the US.
  • YALTA CONFERENCE

    This was a secret meeting of the heads of government of the Allied Forces descussing the post-war solutions. The importance is that it made Europe back to normal after the war.
  • V-E DAY

    Victory in Europe Day marks the holiday in some formal countries which the US and Allied Forces accepted the unconditional surrender by Nazi Germany thus ending Hitler's Third Reich. This importance ends the Nazis
  • HIROSHIMA BOMBING

    The war had ended in Europe but the Pacific War still raged on. The US was getting ready for the invasion of Japan and warned the Japanese government that if they don't surrender, heavy destruction was upon them. They ignored the threat so the US dropped to Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This caused Japan to surrender.
  • V-J DAY

    This is Victory over Japan Day in which Japan officialy surrendered to the US, thus officialy ending WW2
