  • Japanese Invasion of Manchuria (Manchuko)

    Japanese invaded Manchuria for raw materials and U.S embargo because they didnt want to rely on the U.S so much. China immediately requested the Japanese to withdraw, they attacked anyways. This later would lead to the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.
  • Hitler made Chancellor of Germany

    As people in Germany got desperate they turned to Hitler for hope. He was great at public speaking and propaganda which was getting peoples support. He came into power mostly by the treaty of Versailes and the depression that followed. He wasnt afraid of using violence to get what he wanted. This made other countries afraid of entering another war like ww1.
  • The Anschluss

    After having faked a crisis by engineering a plea insisting help from the Germans inside the Austrian Government. German troops marched into Austria and Hitler announced his union. Who knows if the voting was rigged or people were afraid of hitlers determination, he won by a whopping 99.7% for the union. Not long after the Nazis soon began persecuting jewish citizens and politocal dissidents.
  • Kristallnacht

    Also known as the "Night of Crystal" or Night of Broken Glass. This was a violent anti-jewish programs throughout Germany. That night though the Nazis regime burned or destroyed many Jewish businesses and people.
  • Invasion of Poland

    Hitler invaded Poland to take over the rest of the land after he made an agreement with them. France and England realized that he would never stop trying to conquer more land, he was a lier. They then declared war and this is what started ww2.
  • Dunkirk

    Germany attacked the British and French armies by blitzkrieging and trapped them on the beaches around Dunkirk. Winston Churchill ordered to save them, he used small ships to carry them to larger ones. This rescue misson would come and bite Germany in the butt in the future, the British army would be able to fight another day.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    Japan came up with a plan to surprise attack the U.S. naval base in pearl harbor. They attacked because they know war would be inetable and the U.S. put an embargo on goods that Japan wanted to buy. This is what pushed America into World War 2.
  • Bataan Death March

    After the Americans Surrendered from the Battle of Bataan the March began. The goal was to get 72,000 captured soldiers from Mariveles to camp O'Donnell, this was a 55 mile march. Japanese soldiers believed in honor brought by fighting to the death so when Americans and Filipino POWs surrendered the Japanese showed their disgust by torturing the prisoners. Many soldiers had died, it is said only 54,000 made it to camp. General Homma Masaharu was held responsible and executed by firing squad.
  • Battle of Midway

    This was the turning point in the war. Admiral Chester W. Nimitz the U.S Pacific Fleet commander established an ambush against the Japanese. Due to the sacrifice and skill of the U.S Navy soldiers and good luck America sunk four irreplaceable fleet carriers of Japan, while America only lost one.
  • D-day

    Also named Operation Overload when about 156,000 American, british and canadian forces landed on five beaches in Normandy region. This was the largest military assaults in history. Late August all of northern France was liberated and to this day the Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the war in Europe.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    War In Belgium, France where the Axis surprised attacked the Allies. It was the onset of winter and Germany seemed like they were winning. It was thought ww2 was all but over until the allied forces attacked heavily and ended up winning, due to a heavy winter that aided them.
  • Yalta Conference

    It took place in a Russian town. FDR, Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin made very important desicions that would effect the future progress of the war. Aftee the unconditional surrender of the Axis power. This is where they set up the United Nations.
  • VE Day

    Victory in Europe Day. After Hitler commited suicide it was proclaimed. The third reich of the Nazis were defeated and formally surrendered.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima

    The u.s. dropped massive tomic bombs/weapons on Hiroshima, Japan. This would force Japan to surrender unconditionally. This killed about 100,000 people.
  • VJ Day

    Victory over Japan Day. This day Japan had surrendered to the Allies unconditionally. This is what ended World War 2.
