    China was divided into many sections at the time. Japan invades manchuria for their resources. While in a stalemate, Japan has to pullback due to Americas entrance into the war

    Rape of Nanjing
    Japan promptly murders 300,000 chinese civilians. This was preceeded by a tough battle in Shanghai against tough chinese forces. Nanking soldiers were poorly organized and were massacred, giving AJpan a huge victory.

    Germany's Invasion of Poland
    Germany invades Poland ad defeats its army within a week. Hitler made an agreement with Stalin so that they would divide the country into two and not to attack eachother. This event gave Hitler more territory and greatly heightened tensions, where teh allies had previously appeased Hitler's actions.

    German Blitzkrieg
    German Blitzkrieg was lighting war, where air tank and men were used rapidly to take over and attack. This tactic was used to quickly take over areas withought a large expenditure of men and artillery. It led to Germany's quick victories such as Poland and France.

    Hitler needed to invade and defeat Soviet Russia in order to avoid a two front war. He invaded the 22 of Jun 1941 but his soldiers faced massive deficiencys and were defeated. This defeat caused Hitler to face a 2 front war and ultimatly lose.

    Initially, in fear of American intervention ofthe war, the Japanese planned to destroy the entirety of the American Navy to swiftly put an end to their military avantage. However they did not expect the Americans to build ships so quickly and the American joined the war immediatly after the bombing.

    American British and Canadian forces dock on the beaches of Normandy to invade the Axis powers. France had previously been taken over by Germany and forced their people out of the country. This lead to the liberation of Paris and eventually a huge advantage to the allies.

    Battle of the Bulge
    A desperate attempt of the German army in the heavily forested Ardennes to split the allied armies. The outcome was a huge bloodbath and a draw, if not victory to the allies, turning the Germans around and shutting down hitler's power grab.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Americans needed a base for western theater operations against the Japanese. Iwo Jima proved to be worthy. US soldiers defeated 23,000 defending soldiers within a month. This made it easy to fight the japanese.
  • VE Day

    Germans finally surenders after being defeated on both fronts. Pockets of fighting still occurs in the Eastern front but ultimatly, it was finished. This means the hard part was over for the Americans.

    At the time of the first Nuclear test of a weapon, Germany had already been defeated. Truman argued that an atomic bomb wuld save lives rather than risk them in a land invasion of japan. This incredible weapona rguably sparked the cold war.

    Japan’s formal surrender took place aboard the U.S.S. Missouri. This was preceeded by the two nuclear bommbs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Fascism had finally been defeated.
