Importance: It's failure forced the Nazi Germany to fight a two-front war against a coalition possessing immensely superior resources. Nazi Germany started a war that it could not win. It showed everyone how powerful Russia was.
Result: Russia won. -
German Invasion of Poland
Place: Poland, Eastern Germany, Gdansk.
Combatants: Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, Second Polish Republic, Gdansk, Slovak Republic.
Importance: Got to know about Hitler's strategy which was named "blitzkrieg". Invading Poland is how Hitler intended to wage-war.
Result: German-Soviet won. -
Battle of Belgium
Place: Belgium, Luxembourg.
Combatants: Belgium, Nazi Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, French Third Republic, Second Polish Republic.
Importance: The defeat of Belgium prompted the allied forces from the continental Europe to withdraw. The battle of Belgium, overall, was a very offensive operation by the Germans.
Result: Germany won. -
Battle of Britain
Place: United Kingdom.
Combatants: United Kingdom, Nazi Germany.
Importance: It is the first major military campaign fought entirely by air forces. Germany bombed U.K and wanted to destroy all of their air force.
Result: Britain won. -
Battle of Crete
Place: Crete Region, Greece.
Combatants: Nazi Germany, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Kingdom of Greece, Kingdom of Italy.
Importance: German made large-scale use of paratroopers during the invasion. Battle of Crete saw these forces sustain such high losses that they were not used again by the Germans.
Result: Axis won -
Pearl Harbor
Place: Hawaii.
Combatants: United States, Japan.
Importance: 2,403 civilians, sailors and soldiers were killed and about 1000 were wounded. 20 American ships and more than 300 airplanes were destroyed. This shook all the Americans and forced us to take revenge.
Result: Death of 1000s of innocent people. -
Operation Torch
Place: French Morocco, French Algeria

Importance: This is the first time the British and Americans worked together on an invasion plan. It aimed to reduce pressure on the Allied forces in Egypt, enabling an invasion of Southern Europe.

Monte Cassino

Importance: Blocked the Allied route North to Rome and had to be taken despite the difficulties of doing so from a military point of view.
Result: Allied victory. -
Battle of the Bulge
Place: Belgium, Luxembourg, Ardennes.
Combatants: Nazi Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Allies of WW2, Canada.
Importance: Last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during WW2. It is significant because it was Hitler's plan to destabilize the allies and take control of the port of Antwerp.
Result: Allied victory. -
Battle of Berlin
Place: Berlin, Germany
Combatants: Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Poland.
Importance: It resulted in the death of Adolf Hitler which was a huge victory for the Soviet Union and the Allies. It was the last major battle in Europe during WW2.
Result: Surrender of German army and death of Adolf Hitler
