On September 1st, 1939 Germany bombarded Poland from air and the ground. Next they sent massive amounts of troops, artillary, and tanks. Germany easily took poland becasue their military was way more advanced. Germany claimed to have invaded in self defence but many believe that hitler just wanted to rid the world of any race that wasn't "pure" enough to be German. In response to their actions both France and Geat Britain declared war on Germany.

With the British out of the way, the Germans began their final push against France. By June 12, German tanks had broken through the main fronts along the Somme River and the fortified Maginot Line, moving ever closer to their goal, Paris. On september 2nd, 1940 the U.S traded both war supplies and naval warships to Great Britain in retun for land and military bases. They traded because with Franz under German control they were for the most part alone in the fight against Germany. These supplies that Great Britain recieved would greatly help aid Great Britain in the war against Germany.

June 22, 1941 was when Operation Barbossa started. It was code name for Nazi Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union. Germany did this because Hitler secretly despized communists. Overall it ended in a failure that forced Germany to fight a war on two fronts.

On December 7th, 1941 at exactly 7:53 am japanese bomber planes decended from the skies and suprised the US harbor called Pearl Harbor. The Japanese did this in an attempt to nuetralize the U.S Pacific fleet. In result of this the U.s went to war with the Japanese Empire later that day. 2403 Americans died during the attack of pearl harbor.

On December 7th 1941 the U.S enters the war against Japan and shortly after 4 days later Germany declares war on the US. This is because right after Pearl Harbor the US felt the need to go to war with Japan. But 4 days later Germany was asked by the Japanese Empire to join the war against the US as well. Because of this The US would eventually triumph against the Axis powers. If not for this moment the allied powers could have lost.

On June 7th, 1942 the U.S wins against Japan in the battle of midway. They were fighting for only four days, but in those four days there was a total of 2807 casualties. This was a very important victory because it gave the US the ability to store supplies and ships midway inbetween the US and Japan. Also it was a huge moral boost wich helped the US feel more confident about the battles to come.

The soviet Union finally stops Germany's advance towards them on February 2nd, 1943 after a year of fighting. Germany wished to seize the city of Stalingrad becasue they saw it as a very strategic position due to it being near the Volga River. This victory for the soviet union was a major turning point because it stopped the advance of the German Army towards taking the Soviet Union. This really aided the cause of the Allied Forces.

The Normandy landing (nicknamed D-day) were a series of landings on June 6th, 1944 were more than 160,00 allied troops landed on the heavily fortified coastline of Normandy, France. In the end more than 9,000 allied troops died. But this battle would let the remaining soldiers make their slow crawl to eventually defeat hitlers troops.
