    The expansion of Japan into East Asia began in 1931. The invasion Manchuria continued in 1937. On September 27, 1940 Japan signed the tripartite pact with Germany and Ital. They then entered the Military Alliance known as the “Axis”. Japan decided to attack the U.S. and the British forces of Southeast Asia. They then launched a surprise attack on the U.S. on 12/7/41at PHHI. All in all, the main reason why Japan invaded China is because they were having money troubles.

    Germany quickly defeated most of Europe in a short period of time. The Blitzkrieg was German Military tactic. It required the concentration of tanks, planes, and artillery along a skinny front. It drove a breach in enemy defense’s. The air force part of the war helped because it didn’t let the enemy resupply or redeploy forces. Germany used this tactic on Poland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Yugoslavia, and Greece. Great Britain and America took away the success.

    The Japanese Army attacked the Unite States Pacific fleet in Pearl Harbor. They attacked on December 7th, 1941. The attack made a huge indent in Americans Army. It was only a short term situation. The United States declared war on Japan and Germany. All in all the effect of the invasion of Pearl Harbor was the U.S. declared war on Germany and Japan. It also broke down the United States army. Thousands of soldiers and civilians were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor.

    The Wannsee Conference was held at a villa in the Berlin suburbs. The meeting consisted of 15 Nazi and German officials. They discussed ways to carry out the plan of “The Final Solution” They decided they needed a more efficient way of killing all the Jews, and they all agreed on gassing them. Gassing involved putting 30-40 Jews in one room or train boxcar and filling it with toxic gasses. All in all, the Wannsee Conference was a meeting that discussed alternative ways of killing jews.

    In 1943 British Bombers attacked Hamburg, Germany. The attack on Hamburg was code named Operation Gomorrah. The British Air force dropped around 2,300 tons of bombs on Hamburg. More than 1,500 German people died in that attack. There were around 791 planes of the British air force and only 7 of those planes went down in the attack. The attack ended in November of that year.     The bombing of Dresden in February 1945, was also known as Operation Thunderclap. It has remained one of the most controversial aspects of World War II. The Soviet allies were advancing from the west to the east. All in all, there were three waves of attacks on Dresden. There were so many bombs that it had set a firestorm.     American and allied forces stormed the beaches along Iwo Jima on February 19th, 1945. The battle lasted until March 26th, 1945. The codename was operation Detachment. America fought for and captured the Island. Americans goal was to capture the entire island, including all of the air force fields. This battle was one of the most bloodiest battles in WWII. All in all, the Japanese forces were defeated.
