These were the only nuclear weapons used during the war and to date. Although the war in Europe had ended, it was still continuing in the Pacific. America gave Japan an ultimatum of surrender or “prompt and utter destruction”. Japan ignored the ultimatum and America deployed the nuclear weapons. -
