    The Holocaust

    This was the mass murder of six million Jews and millions of other people leading up to and during World War ll. The killings took place in Europe and was organzied by the German Nazi party led by Adolf Hitler. There was very big discrimination between the Jews and Nazi sought to murder the entire Jewish population. He also tried to murder people in Roma that were mentally or physically disabled, homosexual, Jehovah Witnesses, trade unionist, political oppnents, and Soviet prisoners of war.
  • Japan invades China

    The invasion of Manchuria was by Japan's Kwantung Army followed the Muken Incident. Once Japan invaded it marked the beginning of total war between the two countries. Within five months one million Chinese people were under Japanese control. The war lead to four million Chinese casualties and sixty million people became homeless.
  • The Munich Conference

    Neville Chamberlain of Britain, Edouard Daladier of France, Benito Mussolini , and Hitler met to disuss Hitler's hope of acquiring the Sudetenland. The president of Czechoslovaki which is the owner of Sudetenland did not attend the meeting. The four powers came to a conclusion to give the Sudetenland to Hitler.
  • The Non-Aggression Pact

    This pact was signed by Ribbentrop and Molotov. This was between the Germans and the Soviet Union. This stated that the two nations would not attack each other, and is there were ever a problem it would be handled. The terms were that if Germany attacked Poland the Soviet Union would not come to its aid. Also if Germany went against the West the Soviets were guaranteeing they wouldn't enter the war so it's not open to second front for Germany.

    A blitzkrieg is a strategy meaning "lighting war". Early in the morning of September 1, 1939 1.5 million German troops invaded Polandby air and by land.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Poland went through heavy bombing so they surrendered to the Germans. Many Polish soldiers fled to Romanis and formed resistnace forces. German Nazi took over the whole nation making it the first blitzkrieg. Troops destroyed railroads and communication stations. Some of the Polish military officers tried fighting back by killing enemies with explosives, guns, and even sabers.

    Battle of Britain

    This battle lasted only a few months. Goering on of the German commanders along side of Hitler tried to bomb Britain's aerocraft after France surrendered. Goering began to become frustrated with amount of Britain airplanes fighting off his intented attack. 11 days later Goering descided to postpone the battle but then was figured that the battle was ended when Britain destoryed a lot of their aircraft.
  • Lend Lease Act

    Signed by President Roosevelt. It permitted him to transfer title to exchange, lease, or lend to any government. This act set up a system that would allow the United States to lend or lease war supplies to any nation. In 1940 in the Presidential election campaign Roosevelt promised to keep America out of war. He also wanted to support Britain, so proposing this act helped support Britain without getting involved in war.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    The orginial name was Operation Fritz. It was a code name for the German invasion of the Soviet Union. It was a failure of German troops to defeat Soviet forces in the campaign signaled a crucial turing point in the war.
  • Pearl Harbor

    This attack was not expected at all. The U.S. soldiers were caught by surprise by the attack from Japan. Their was new technology such as radar mounted on Opana Point. There was a submarine that was trying to sneak into the habor and bomb directly to the habor.
  • The Bataan Death March

    This was a forced march on American and Filipino prisoners of war. The Japanese are the forced the prisoners to walk. The 63 mile march began with 72,000 prisoners from southern Bataan Peninsula. With the horrible conditions and harsh treatment there were 7,000 to 10,000 deaths.

    Battle of Midway

    Japanese carrier aircraft bombed and heavily damaged the base on Midway. From the remaining Japanese carrier they hit USS Yorktown, which was severly damaged, but survived the attack. After all of the attacks the Japanese made Spruance launched attacks that cripple and destroyed the Japanese.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    Considered to be the turning point in World War ll in Europe. The troops in Stalingrad bled the German troops dry. The Germans were defeated and also had to face cold temperatures. The commander of the German sixth army was General Paulus. The Germans took a lot of the city but failed to fully assert their authority. They lost of manpower and equipment. In the end they lost to Russians and Hitler was furious.
  • D-Day

    It was one of the largest air, land, and sea operations. This was when Allied forces invaded northern France. D-Day means which an important operation is to begin or change to take effect.

    The Battle of the Bulge

    Over 200,000 of German troops were led by Adolf Hitler. 1,000 tanks were launched when Allied troops landed in France on D-day. The Germans were seeking to drive to the English channel and split the Allied troops. While in battle, the Germans broke the American front seizing keycross roads and spreading to the Muse River. The Germans caused a lot of caos and confusion in the beginning of this battle. They eventually ran out the fuel. The Allied powers defeated them and won the battle.

    A battle of the Americans and Japanese. The Americans used a tatical strategy, island hopping to isolate the Japanese forces. With that the Americans were able to bomb and attack the Japanese..
  • V-E Day

    Know as Victory in Europe Day, The day it was finally announced that World War ll ended in Europe.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

    When the United States used a massive atomic weapon against Hiroshima, Japan. The atomic bomb is equivalent to 20,000 tons of TNT. It killed tens of thousands of civilians. After the first bombing the US bombed Nagasaki three days later.
  • V-J Day

    US President Harry Turman declared the day as Victory in Japan Day. It marked the end of World War ll and was greatly celebrated. Truman announced it at the White House and said, "This is the day we have been waiting for since Pearl Harbor." Everyone was happy and was marked as a two day holiday in the UK, the US, and Australia.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Between Soviet Union and other European countries. The Soviet Union formed the alliance as a counterbalance to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It is a collective security alliance concluded between the United States, Canada, and Western European nations.
