Operation Barbarossa was code name for Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union. About four million Axis soldiers invaded the Soviet Union. Operation Barbarossa ended on the 5th of December, 1941. The result was failure by the Axis powers and heavy loss of life. -

The Battle of Midway was a desicive American victory with inflicting blows on the Japanese fleet. Known as one of the most stunning and decisive blows in the history of naval warfare. It was Japan's first naval defeat since the Battle of Shimonoseki Straits in 1863. The battle of Midway ended on the 7th of June, 1942. -

A major battle in World War Two fought between the Germans along with their allies against the Soviet Union; fought for control of the city of Stalingrad. Fought mostly in close quarters combat, it is considered one of the most bloodiest battles in the history of warfare. The result was a decisive Soviet victory and a major turning point in the war. The battle was over on the 2nd of February, 1943. -
D-Day
D-Day was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The result was a decisive Allied Victory. -
Battle of the Bulge
The Battle of the Bulge was a major German offensive launched through the forested area of Adrennes. Adolf Hitler planned the offensive with the primary goal to recapture the harbour of Antwerp. The result was a decisive allied victory and a German operational failure. Ended on the 25th of January, 1945. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
The battle of Iwo Jima was a major battle in which the United States fought for the captured island of Iwo Jima. The island was under Japanese control and the Americans wanted to capture the island along with it's three airfields. This five-week battle was one of the bloodiest fought in the Pacific during World War Two. The result was an American victory on the 26th of March, 1945. -
Battle of Okinawa
The Battle of Okinawa was the largest amphibious assault in World War Two. The battle ended on the 22nd of June, 1945. The result was an Allied victory. -

V-E day is also known as Victory in Europe Day. This marked the surrender of Germany's armed forces and the end of World War Two in Europe. -
Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki
The atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki which ended the war in the Pacific against Japan. -

V-J Day is also known as Victory over Japan Day. The formal surrender ceremony was performed on the deck of the USS Missouri. -
