  • Germany invaded Poland

    cause and effect: German dictator Adolf Hitler begins his quest to build an empire by invading Poland. The capital city of Warsaw is destroyed and Poland is defeated within weeks. before this event took place, britain had formed alliance with poland, which was a clear sign to germany, to stay away from that country. Yet HItler didnot take this warning into notice, hence the war started.
  • Heavy German bombing of London

    cause and effect: due to this heavy bombing british took more action and paced up there game.
  • the jewish halocuast starts

    ethical dimension: this was wrong to start a genocide mission against jews, this made the jews turn against the German goevernment.
  • Japan bombs the U.S. military base at Pearl Harbor.

    cause and effect: Japanese planes attack the United States by bombing its military base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. The next day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt meets with Congress and Congress declares war on Japan. Germany and Italy respond by declaring war on the U.S. United states od America wanted to stay away from the chaos happening in Europe. BUt when Japan bomed a major part of America, prime minister Rosaavalt couldnot stand this, hence America enter the war, just because of that bomb.
  • Hitler takes complete control of the German Army

    historical perspective: Hitler was unimpressed by the work of german army, they had lost alot of battles and humiliated infront of the world. so now he took over the german army.
  • Japanese-Americans are forced to move in internment camps.

    Historical Perespective: President Roosevelt issues Executive Order 9066. Japanese-Americans are ordered to go to internment camps in the West out of fear that they will aid the Japanese in the war. The president thought that the Japanese living in the U.S, would leak sensitive information about America to the Japanese government. And that may result in America loosing the war. to prevent this, he cut of the japanese relation with the outside world.
  • The U.S. defeats Japan at the Battle of Midway

    historical significance: The U.S. Navy fights Japan in the Battle of Midway and wins the most important battle of the Pacific region. It is the first defeat in a modern war ever sustained by the Japanese navy. Just after 6 months of the U.S. Japan war, America defeates Japan, this showed the Japanese Alliaences that japan didnot stand a chance against america, hence proving that america is stronger.
  • Allied forces invade Italy.

    cause and effect, historical significance: Allied troops invade Italy at Salerno, Calabria, and Taranto. Italy signs a secret armistice, agreeing to stop fighting and to not help German troops. after being defeated italy stopped suppiying soldiers and military equipment to Germany because this was the only way in which italy would step out of the war. Germany was effected in a big way as it had lost one if its Alliance.
  • Allied forces land on the beaches of Normandy.

    historical significance: In what has come to be called D-Day, 100,000 Allied forces land on the beaches of Normandy, France to fight the German forces. It is a victory for the Allies but there were over 10,000 casualties. Alliied forces un-invaded the land captured by Germany and showed Germany that they cant do what ever they want.
  • The Allies liberate Paris

    historical significance: After four years of German occupation, the Allies liberate Paris. French and U.S. troops force Germany to surrender. This was an alarm for Germany.
  • The Battle of the Bulge begins.

    ethical dimension and histprical signifcaance: German troops launch an offensive attack on the Western front. Allied forces fought the Germans throughout the winter and eventually defeated them in what has come to be called the Battle of the Bulge. Both sides suffered heavy casualties and it remains the bloodiest battle ever fought by American troops. alot of lives were lost and the the battle was given the name as, the battle of blood.
  • the battle of imma jima begins

    historical sigificance: U.S. Marines invade the island of Iwo Jima, an important strategic location in the Pacific. American forces win after weeks of fighting, but not without suffering heavy casualties. the U.S. troops showed there enemies once again who is more stronger. japan now had started suicide warfare (i.e.) crashing there war planes right into the U.S. navy ships.
  • President Roosevelt dies in Warm Springs, Georgia

    casue and effect: President Roosevelt dies of a cerebral hemorrhage while in Warm Springs, Georgia. Vice-president Harry S Truman is sworn in as president and is charged with leading the U.S. through the end of the war. the population of America was greatly struck by this tragedy and the army was shook. this gave the enemy a great chance to attack, yet the vise president didnot let the country fall apart
  • Germany surrenders as Soviet troops reach Berlin

    cause and effect.: As Soviet troops reach Berlin, the German army surrenders. Meanwhile, Hitler commits suicide in his underground bunker. the german army lost its leader, and the population was in grief. noe a had any clue what to do. so now the geermans had lost the war.
  • Soviet troops liberate Auschwitz.

    hisorical perspective: After troops from the Soviet Union arrive in Auschwitz, Poland, survivors of the Nazi concentration camps are freed. The world finally realizes the depth of the horror that the Nazis have inflicted on the Jews. This would make an impact upon finishing the war.
  • The U.S. drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan.

    cause and effect and historical significance: Eighty thousand Japanese people are instantly killed when the U.S. drops an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The force of the weapon causes buildings to disintegrate and temperatures on the ground reach 5,000 degrees, causing birds in flight to ignite.in flames. the world was struck by this event. Japan was struck in fear and so was its popultion. they feared to take any major step
  • U.S. drops another atomic bomb on Nagasaki.

    cause and effect: A B-29 bomber drops an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. 40,000 people are killed and Emperor Hirohito announces days later that Japan will surrender. this major evenrt in histroy caused Japan to surrender.
  • Japan officially surrenders and the war ends.

    historical significance: After agreeing to unconditionally surrender weeks earlier, Japan formally surrenders to the Allied forces. World War II comes to an end.
