    When Japan decided to become a world power, they began to take on much larger countries to gain territories. One of those countries was China and the invasion didnt exactly go over well. After Japan's invasion there was a short war between the two countries. (Sino-Japanese War)

    The Holocaust

    The holocaust was the killing and persecution of Jews by the Nazi regime. The 12 year catastophe resulted in the death of over 6 million European Jews. It was ended by the fall of the Nazi Party at the end of WWII. And the death of Hitler in 1945 also played a major role in the end of the Holocaust.
  • Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference gave Germany the oppurtunity to start its notorious takeover. The conference only authorized certain parts in Czechoslovakia that Hitler asked for. But Hitler had better ideas about the places he wanted and how he was going to get them.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    After the Soviet Union failed to make ties with Britain and France they turned to Germany where Hitiler was waiting with open arms. The Non-Agression Pact was used to only protect both countries during the time of war. Both countries used this as a shield again all other countries in Europe.

    When Germany decided to invade Poland, they knew they would have to come prepared. So they came up with a new strategy "Blitzkrieg". This strategy consisted of harsh but swift warfare that was sure to bring out a victory.

    This battle was Germany's response to US troops attack on D-Day.Their plan was to get everyone split up and destroy them so the war would be in their favor again. Fortunately, British & American forces joined together to push Germany back once again. And Hitler was unable to pull a stunt like that ever again.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    The US attempted to capture the island to use as a naval base. After suffering a great loss of men they decided to give up. The US decided that the island wasnt worth it.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    This battle was the last warning given to Japan to stop fighting. After island hopping US troops started a vicious fight on the main island. This battle later became know as the bloodiest battle in the Pacific.
  • V-E Day

    VE Day is when the Allied Forces officially declared victory in Europe.After Germany finally gave up, documents were signed in Berlin. Stalin didnt give a victory speech until May 9th.
  • The Bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki

    The bombing was the United States' last resort to get Japan to surrender. This was also the first time atomic bombs were used, and it didnt fail to catch Japan by surprise. The 2 bombs killed an estimated total of 120,000 citizens and troops in both cities.

    V-J day is the official day that Japan surrendered in WWII. Even after an invasion it was the bombing that finally caused Japan to give up.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Warsaw Pact was a treaty created by the Axis Powers that made them feel secure. The pact acted as a defense contract meaning that if anyone was attacked by an outside force, they would come to their aid. The Warsaw Pact was also a response to NATO's decision to make Germany a member.
