    Germany went too far with their appeasement when they hit Poland. They began their western offence. Britain and France declared war on Germany two days later. The Soviet Union began their offence to combat the Germans on the 17th.

    The Blitzkrieg was a new form of warefare. The Germans decided to blitz their opponent in three waves planes would bomb, tanks would hit everything that the planes missed, and followed by foot soldiers to clean it up. In, out, win. The Blitzkrieg was used to overwhelm Poland and later Belgium, Holand, and France.
  • Fall of Paris

    The Germans invaded France through the Belgium border rather than their own as Fance heavily fortified the area with Maginot line. Blitzkrieg was the tactic to invaide France. They were able to complete their conquest before July ending Germany's conquest of Eastern Europe.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was a massive invasion of Soviet Russia by the Germans and other Axis powers. Even though Germany and Russia were under a non-aggression pact, both sides to prepare for war. Russia was not prepared for the German Blitzkrieg. By December, the Germans had made it as far as Moscow. The plan was to conquor Russia before winter since their winters were so harsh. This brought German advancment to a hault. Turning point for the Germans.

    Japan launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, which was the location of the U.S. Pacific Navy Fleet. This attack was the cause of the US's involvment in WWII. As the US joined in the fight, Germany and Italy declared war on the US as well.

    This was the day that the German Nazi officials mett to disscuss the "Final Solution." They were aware that they were not going to win at the current state of the war. Just over 15 officials met to divise a plan to complete their mission before the end of the war. Many ideas circulated but they decided to deport all Jews to concentration camps to work them to death.
