    The Battle of Stalingrad was important to Stalin because Germany was trying to invade his city, so he had groups after groups of soldiers that defended Stalingrad. This went on for 6 months until the Soviets defeated the Germans.

    General Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Allied commander in Europe and led the D-Day invasion. 156,000 American, British, and Canadian forces landed on 5 beached along a 50 mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France' Normandy region for Allied liberation from the Nazi's control.
