Battle of Britain
In July 10- October 31 (three months and three days) Involving France and Germany. The German air forces attempted to gain air superiority over the Royal Air Force (RAF). This Battl happened necause before Germany could launch an invasion over Britain it had to gain air superiority over the English Channel. To accomplish this, it has to wipe out the RAF. Germay lost and did not get their air superiorit. -
Operation Barbarossa
June 22- December 5 1941 in Russia, SOviet Union. Nazi Germany ad its axis allies began a masive invasion of the soviet union. 4.5 million troops launched a surprise attack deployed from Germany. -
Pearl Harbor
Japepanese naval pilots bombed the US port of Pearl Harbor. In two waves planes attacked. It happend in Oahu, Hawaii, USA. Japan wanted to take out the majority of the US navy. The outcome of this event was that the US declares war on Japan and enters WW II. -
Bataan Death March
The countries that were involved were Japan, USA, and the Philipeans. It was a 63-mile march that began with 72,00 prisoners in Balang, Bataan.The horrible conditions and harsh treatment of the prisoners who were philipeno and american during the Bataan Death March resulted in an estimated 7,000 to 10,000 deaths. -
Operation Overload (D-day)
Wednesday, June 6, 1944 was the dya of the invasion of German occupied with Europe by the ALlied forces. The invasion happened in Normandy France.. The Allies did it to end WWII and the Nazi domination of Europe and to set France free and also set free Holland, Belgium, Poland, and Austria. D-Day was significant because it was the turning point of World War II. It marked the start of the Allies' invasion of Western Europe and paved the way for Allied victory. -
Battle of the Bulge
German army launched a counteroffensive that was intended to cut through the Allied forces in a manner that would turn the tide of the war in Hitler's favor. In the Ardennes forest, at first, the Germans got what they expected, very little resistance, and they made a lot of progress in the first three days. They created a bulge in the Allied front lines. -
Yalta Conference
Feb 4-11,1945 were the dates of the WWII meetings of the heads of government, it happened in Yalta US, the main people that were involved were Winston Churchhill, President FDR, and Prime Joseph Stalin. The main countries that were involved were US, Europe, and the Soviet Union. They meeting was held to discuse Europs post war organization and the re establishment of the nationa of war torn Europe. The outcome was that they made the United nations. -
Battle of Iwo Jima
February 19- 26 Marc 1945 was the Battle whe American forces fought for and captured the island of Iwo Jima from te Jappenese. The Americans had a goal of capturingtheentire island and they did by island hopping and traveling from one island to another. The outcome was America has victory but nobody surrenders and many people die. -
V-E Day
The Western Allies whose chief commanders in the field, crossed the Rhine after having smashed through the fortified Siegfried Line and overran West Germany. German collapse came after the meeting of the Western and Russian armies. -
Dropping of the Atomic Bomb
6-9 August and 14 August were the two dates of the atomic bomb dropping. The two happend in Hiroshima(h) and Nagaski(n), Japan. In H 70,00 people died and 100,000 people were injured from burns and ration sickness. In N 800,000 people were killed and many other injured. The two planes that dropped the bombs were the Enola Gay and the Bockscar. This happened bc we were debating on how much influence the surrender of Japan would be. Overall thousands of people died and injured but Japan surrenders -
V-J Day
The day that Japan surrenders, ending WWII. It is called Victory over Japan day. It happened in Missouri USA. It happend bc Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. The us celebrated that the war was over!
