    Canada declared war on Germany a week after Britain and France. This was significant because it marked Canada's first war declaration as an independent country.

    This was the ongoing Axis attack on Allied ships crossing the Atlantic; Germany was trying to blockade Britain. Its significance was that it was the longest military campaign and it did not end until Germany surrendered.

    This act removed the arms embargo. It was significant because it allowed for the US to help the Allied forces while still remaining neutral.
  • Cash and Carry Act (Economic)

    This act allowed for the selling of war goods to other countries as long as they paid in cash and transported their purchased items on their own. It was significant because it stimulated the economy by creating many manufacturing jobs.

    They were war bonds sold in Canada to finance the war in Europe. It was significant because it provided great financial support to the government for the war effort as well as stimulating the economy.

    It was the draft for World War II. It was significant because it forcefully recruited men into the military.

    This program allowed the US to supply the the Allied nations with war goods, while still remaining neutral. It was significant because it helped the economy by promoting the creation of millions of jobs in manufacturing.
  • Office of Price Administration (Economic)

    Its purpose was to monitor and control prices to prevent inflation in the US, as well as to control the consumption of goods, by methods, such as rationing. It was significant because it was to protect from inflation and another depression.

    It was the ceasing of oil exportation to Japan by the US. It was significant because the Japanese economy and military were dependent on the oil and as a result they attacked Pearl Harbor.

    This was the first policy made to help define the world's goals after the war, initially issued by the US and Britain. It was significant becasue the US had not officially entered the war, they still remained neutral, but were already discussing what was going to happen after the war.

    This was an executive order signed by President Roosevelt that allowed for the internment of anyone considered a threat to national security. It was significant because it only applied to Japanese people living on the west coast.

    It was the womens branch of the US Army. Its significance was that women entered the military force on a much larger scale.

    Brazil declared war on Italy and Germany as a result of German attacks on Brazilian ships crossing the Atlantic, as well as pressure by a vast population that was siding with the Allies. It was significant because Brazil was under a dictatorship at the time.

    This was the invasion of Normandy (France) by Allied tropps. This was significant because it marked the opening of the second war front forcing Germany to have to fight on two sides.

    Korematsu went to court because he claimed that Executive Order 9066 was unconstitutional. This event was significant because it showed the peoples attitude towards Japanese and Japanese Americans.

    It was a government act that provided benefits for returning war veterans. Its significance was that veterans were now fiven benefits and not left to their own luck after returning from war.

    This was a conference betweeen the US, the Socviet Union, adn Brittain to discuss the organization of Europe post-world war II. This was significant because it started the issues that would later evolve into the Cold War due to the division and area of Soviet influence and Western influence.

    Harry S. Truman assumed the presidency after the sudden death of president Roosevelt. This was significant because he took a different approach on the war and eh made the decision to bomb Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
  • Death of Hitler (Political)

    htiler committed suicide, along with his bride Eva, on April 30, 1945. This is significant because the German Thrid Reich surrendered unconditionally shortly after.
  • VE Day (Social)

    VE Day is victory in Europe day, the day that Germany surrendered unconditionally. It was significant because it marked the end of the war in Europe and the elation of the British, Americans, and Soviets.

    This conference was held in Potsdam, occupied Germany, to discuss Germnay's position after the war. This was significant because it divided Germany and Austria into four occupied zones controlled by Britain, France, the Soviet Union, and the US.

    This was the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan by the US. This was significant because it was the first time an atomic bomb was used in war and it proved to be very destrucful.
  • "Fat Man" (Military)

    This was the dropping of the second atomic bomb by the US on Japan in the city of Nagasaki. It was significant because it was the second time the atomic bomb was used, but this one proved to be less successful than the first.
