The battle was between Nazi Germany and its allies who fought againt the soviet union for control of the city of Stalingrad in modern day Southern Russia. Allied troops reach Paris France which was under rule of Nazi Germany. The liberation of Paris began when the French Resistance staged an uprising on the German Garrison. On the night of August 24, the 2nd French Armoured Division made its way into Paris and arrived at the Hotel De Villa and the next morning, on August 25, the US 4th infantry division arrived in Paris and the Germans surrendered the city to the French. -

The soviet forces completely cirlced the city of Berlin and pushed into the city to gain control of the German capital and remove Germany from the war. Following the Battle of Berlin, Germany surrendered to the Western Allies and the Soviet Union. Once Germany surrendered, and after Mussolini had been killed, it meant the war in Europe was over and the only country left to surrender to end the war was Japan, which surrendered to end World War 2 on september 2, 1945 following the Atmoic bombs used in Hiroshima and Nagasaki
