    This is the beggining of the Holocaust, when Hitler stated his law to kill/imprison crazy people and Jews. Millions of people killed in this event. A famous book written about this was The Diary of Anne Frank (Anne was a Jew, and it was a diary of hers that told about her months living in secret).

    The Holocaust:
    The period of time when more than 6 millon Jews were murdered.
    This was done when Hitler, the head of the Nazi Party, rose to power. Jews were sent to concentration camps all across Germany (and some of its outside territories). Jews died either by sickness, starvation, or poisonous gases. There were literally 2 phases to the Holocaust. The abolition phase, where Hitler tried to rid the country from crazy people and Jews, and the Death Phase, where Hitler murdered Jews.

    This is the official beginning of World War 2. Great Britian and France,at this date, declared war on Germany. Poland was attacked a few days before this, resulting in its allies attacking Germany. Great Britian and France were against Germany, now in Hitler's rule.

    On this day, the Battle of France was fought. Germany advanced on France to take it over. When Germany attacked, it pushed the Allied Forces back to the English Channel. Germany attacked Paris and Germany won. France was split up into German zones and Vichy France.

    The Battle of Britian was the United Kingdom vs. Germany. It was the first battle to be only fought by aircrafts. Germany was trying to take over the RAF (Royal Air Force) from the UK. The British Air Force was badly outnumbered against the amount of German fighters, but Britian had a few advantages. For one, they had a better radar, which limited German stealth attacks. Also, Britian made top quality aircrafts. Eventually, the RAF got aluminum, a lighter, more durable material and won.

    Germany took over many zones in Russia in this war. More than 14% of Russia's population was killed (or missing). The Germans took Moscow. Extreme causualties were dealt to different countries.
  • Siege of Leningrad

    Siege of Leningrad
    Germany attacked Leningrad, otherwise known as Saint Petersburg, resulting in a major weakening of Russian forces. The city of Leningrad was held for days, being attacked by German forces. It was a long and brutal siege, eventually leading into the vivtory of the Germans. The 2 and a half year siege killed more than a million people by starvation, sickness, and damage.
  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-Day is the invasion of Germany on Normandy, France. 160,000 troops stood on the shoreline. General Dwight D. Eisenhower led the allied troops to victory. The Allied Troops were backed up by around 5,000 ships and over 13,000 aircrafts. After this battle, more than a 100,000 soldiers marched across Europe to defeat Hitler. Even though the Allied Forces were backed up, Germany still hit heavy casualties on them.
