They chose Manchuria, an island in China because their troops were already stationed there. As Stalin saw that Japan was a growing threat, they began to help China with weapons to defeat Japan. And because of the alliance with the USSR, Germany also began helping China.

This tactic was first used by Germans invading Poland in September of 1939, but succesfully was done in 1940 in the countries of Belgium, The Netherlands, France, and Greece. It involves a high concentration of weapons on a narrow front. These weapons include: artillery, aircraft, and tanks. The concentration is supposed to shock and disemble their enemies, eventually the Germans would circle the enemy and force surrender. This ended on April 30, 1941.

When Britain and France saw that Germany had broken their agreement, they feared war, but were not afraid enough to not go to war with them over lands. On September 3, Britain declared war on Germany, after they realized that their invasion would not be small. France quickly followed on the offensive side to the west of Germany.

So he decided he would advance before that could happen. The Soviets were caught by surprise, so from the Summer to Autumn the plan worked successfully. In the Winter however, the troops had no winter clothing to protect them from the cold. As the Germans proceeded ignoring that fact, a counterattack from the Soviets pushed Germany back until Germans abandoned their operation.

    Japanese Aircraftmen attacked the huge American naval base in Hawaii, destroying 20 naval vessels. 2,400 killed, and 1,200 wounded. The day after, the US declared war on Japan. Then Japan declared war on the US, and Italy and Germany followed Japan.

    High-ranking Nazi Party and German officials gathered in the Berlin to discuss how to carry out the "Final Solution." It was a plan to iradicate Jews from every land possible, to exterminate their existence, because they realized that the Axis powers knew what they were doing, and were coming for them and the concentration/death camps.

The order made these people lose their homes and businesses, and renounced citizenships. This ended on March 20, 1946.

It was the greatest war of the war, and the turning point. Nearly 2 million died, and it defined the line of the invading Germans and the Soviets. This ended on February 2, 1943.

    D-Day (Normandy Invasion)
    The Allied paratroopers invaded behind the enemy lines, under Operation Overlord, after Russia asked the Allies to fight a two-front war. Hitler chose to attack Normandy, France, because of its more strategic land. Omaha Beach and Utah Beach were the main attack points. Eventually they broke German lines and take France, and France is liberated within a few weeks.

The Allies bombed German cities and industries and held the Germans at bay, until they could force them to retreat. The Germans suffered heavy losses. As the Soviets pushed them from the East, this battle pushed Germans completely into Germany, and the war was almost over, and the race to Berlin had begun. This ended on January 25, 1945.

    Battle of Ima Jima
    This battle was the bloodiest of Marine Corps, and largest of all-Marine battles ever. The US wins, and gains a tiny island in Japan, and the famous picture of men raising the flag helps the war effort and publicity. This battle also increased air support for America and bombings of Japanese islands.
  • V-E(Victory in Europe) Day

    V-E(Victory in Europe) Day
    As the US, Britain, and the Soviet Union discuss the end of the war, US and English soldiers continue the race to Berlin. They discover and liberate the death camps along the way, and as the Soviets continue the mutilation of Germans soldiers, Hitler realizes hat Stalin is coming for him. He commits suicide when the Soveits invade Berlin in a bunker, along with other high-ranking Nazis and his own family, out of "honor." Germany Surrenderson May 7, and V-E Day is declared a holiday.

The island was chosen based on how close it was to Japan's mainland, as a threat, and to end the war. it was 3 months of bloody fighting, and it showed Japan's defensive side. America lost approximately 12,000 troops and Japan lost around 100,000. This ended on June 22, 1945.

    The secret project, the Manhattan Project was the name of the creation of the atomic bombs, to be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Two-thirds of Hiroshima was immediately destroyed, and half of Nagasaki was destroyed, three days later. 105,000 people were killed total, and 94,000 people were injured severely. The effects of the bombs can still be seen in future generations.
