    The Battle of Britain

    Germany first starts bombing Britain in the summer of 1940. Then in September, the Germans focus more on the cities and attack London. To much of everyone's surprise, Britain holds out despite that many of their cities have been attacked. The war finally ends when Hitler pulls his troops out of Britain.

    Japan launches its attack on Pearl Harbor because the US cut off the oil supply to Japan. The Japanese also saw Pearl Harbor as a major US threat to Japan.

    The Battle of Stalingrad

    The Germans attacked the city in Russia, and by November, 90% of the city was in ruins and controlled by the Germans. Finally, at the beginning of February, the German troops surrendered and retreated. Stalingrad's defense cost the Soviets over 1 million dollars, and the city was completely destroyed.

    Roosevelt and Churchill unite and take back Sicily from the Germans.

    The attack on Normandy was the biggest land a sea attack. Despite all the casualties, the allies managed to defeat the Germans.

    After the war, many of the Nazis were put on trial and punished for killing many of the Jews. Adolf Hitler had committed suicide before the trials.

    The allies attack Sicily, and Mussolini ends bein pushed out of power. Mussolini disguises himself as a German soldier hiding in that back of a truck, but eventually, the allies find him and he is killed. His body is put out in front of everyone in MIlan to see.

    Germany surrenders and the allies have won in Europe, but the Japanese still haven't given up yet.

    The First Atomic bomb was exploded in New Mexico. President Truman wanted to use it because many of his advisors had said that it would bring the war to a quick end. Before he used it, he warned the Japanese that if they didn't stop he would use the bomb, but the Japanese didn't stop.

    The US drops atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. More than 140,000 people were killed.

    The Japanese finally surrendered to General Douglas MacArthur. With this surrender, the war finally came to an end.
  • A New Constitution

    A New Constitution
    Japan's colonial rule was taken from them and replaced with a constitutional monarchy, like the British government. The new constitution was put into effect on May 3rd.
