    Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor was the first attack on the US by Japan to start the US in the war. Japan sent kamikaze pilots and fighter aircraft to ambush warships and air bases in Oahu, Hawaii west of Honolulu. The attack killed 2,403 people and destroyed 19 Naval ships including 8 battle ships and 3 aircraft carriers putting a tremendous blow on the united states Navy. This limited The US from using all of its naval power at the beginning of the war

    Franklin D Roosevelt declares and signed a declaration of war against Japan on December 8th 1941 and just 3 days later on the 11th declares war on Germany and Italy. This is an important event because now that america is involved in the war everyone in america needs to change their daily life and work hard to keep the country going

    On June 4-7 1942 the US and Japanese fought on the Midway islands. A US Air force base in which the us fought against the Japanese navy and won. This battle turned the the pacific onto the Allies side changing the momentum of the war.

    On the day of June 6th 1944 allied forces took the beach of Normandy in France to find that it would be one of the bloodiest battles of the war. At the time the beaches were occupied by the Germans which had bunkers with heavy machine guns waiting for the american troops.The troops were helped by 13,000 paratroopers which dropped behind enemy lines. This was one the largest drops of paratroopers done yet in the war.

    known as the Ardennes counter offense was a battle that took place in Frances Ardennes forest in the blistering cold against the US and Germans. This battle was a big turning point in the war because it pushed the ill equipped Germans back even more. the land acquired by the Germans was most of the territory they had left and the US took it back.

    on August 6th 1945 the wolds first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima japan on an attempt to end WWII. The bob killed 80,000 Japanese on impact and thousands more from injuries. but japan still did not surrender

    Three days after the bombing of Hiroshima a second bomb was dropped on japan in Nagasaki killing 40,000. This was the bomb that ended the war and made japan surrender.

    Marks the end of WWII the day the Japanese surrendered officially. On the day of august 14th 1945 the Japanese leaders were brought aboard the USS Missouri and signed the papers of them officially surrendering to the US
