The powers allowed Germany to annex Czechoslovakia to keep Germany from getting upset and starting another war. This is an example of appeasement.

    Germany and the Soviet Union made a non-aggression pact. They made a pact so that when Germany invaded Poland, the Soviet Union would get part of Poland and not attack Germany or oppose the invasion.

The Germans used "blitzkrieg" which means "lighting war" to take the French by surprise and take over. The French got pushed back to Dunkirk, which was a major loss but also showed the strength of the European Allies coming together to rescue the soldiers that were stranded on the shore.
