    This is the date that the 20th amendment was ratified. This amendment changed the dates that the newly picked president would be inaugurated into office. The current president and vice presidents term will end at noon on January 20th allowing the new president to take office. political event

    This act Allowed the United States to aid Allied Nations with materials. From 1941 to 1945 the Unite States supplied the Soviet Union, France, and Great Britain with over 50 Billion Dollars worth of materials. economic event

    The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, a United States base in Hawaii. The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor to show that they have dominance over the Pacific.

    This is the date that Franklin D. Roosevelt signed an executive order allowing military to imprison Japanese Americans. Putting Japanese Americans in internment camps was a result of the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Many of the people placed in the camps were American citizens. social event

    Auschwitz is liberated by the Soviets with approximately 7,600 prisoners left on the premises. This number is so small because many of the prisoners were forced to endure a death march more than a week earlier. social event

    President Franklin D. Roosevelt had been undergoing a decrease in health for many years. Less than a year after the fourth inauguration of Franklin D. Roosevelt his health got the best off him and he passed away. This left Harry S. Truman as the successor of presidency. political events

    Adolf Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany, Commits suicide. Hitler knew that Germany would not come out as victorious. Instead of facing the consequences Hitler knew were coming to him he killed himself. social event

    The United States tests the first atomic bomb in New Mexico. After five years of development a bomb was finally ready for use. The atomic bomb will eventually cause the downfall of Japan and forever change the face of warfare. cultural/technological event

    After the United States bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan decided they have had enough. The Japanese surrender was signed on the USS Missouri. This is the official surrender of Japan from WWII, ending the war. political event
