    A battle called the Fall of France. German forces invaded areas of France and pushed back British and French troops. The Germans fought the battle with two operations. Operations Fall Gelb and Fall Rot.

    An unexpected attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan. The Japanese destroyed 20 naval vessels, 8 battleships, and more than 300 airplanes. More than 200 people died and 1000 wounded.

    Germany invaded the Soviet Union to try and take over the city of Stalingrad. The Germans and its allies lost this battle. This was a major turning point in the war and it was the beginning of the end for the Axis Powers.

    156000 Allied troops landed five beaches in Frances Normandy region. It was one of the largest invasions in history. It ended in Allied liberation of Western Europe. This was a big part of the end of the war.

    On August 6 and August 9 of 1945 two atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This forced Japan to surrender. About 80,000 Japanese people died and pretty much all of Japan's military was destroyed.
