    On September 19,1933 Adolf Hitler came into power over Germany. As soon as he took power Germany started to have many conflicts with others countries escalating the tension between people leading to World War II.

Soon after Australia,Canada,New Zealand,South Africa,and India also declared war on Germany. This was the start to World War II.

    Fighting in North Africa started with the Italian declaration of war on 10 June 1940. On 14 June, the British Army's 11th Hussars crossed the border from Egypt into Libya and captured the Italian Fort Capuzzo.

The battle lasted about 10 days.

    Battle of Caen

    From Jne to august of 1944 British and Canadian troops fought against the Germans. Originally, the Allies aimed to take the French city of Caen, one of the largest cities in Normandy, on D-Day. Caen was a vital objective for several reasons. Firstly, it lay astride the Orne River and Caen Canal; these two water obstacles could strengthen a German defensive position if not crossed. Secondly, Caen was a road hub; in German hands it would enable the enemy to shift forces rapidly.

    Starting on 16 April 1945, the Red Army breached the German front as a result of the Vistula–Oder Offensive and advanced westward as much as 25 miles a day through East Prussia, Lower Silesia, East Pomerania, and Upper Silesia, temporarily halting on a line 37 mi east of Berlin along the Oder River. When the offensive resumed, two Soviet fronts (army groups) attacked Berlin from the east and south, while a third overran German forces positioned north of Berlin.
