    HolocaustStarted on January 30, 1933, when Adolf Hitler became the true chancellor of Germany, to May 8, 1945. During the time period Jewish beings were sent off to “death camps” and were kept there in harsh conditions. Because of this there was a murder rate of 6,000,000 Jews, which was ⅓ of the world Jewish population. the Jews were not fighters during the world they were the victims to Germany plan to lower the population of Jews in Europe. a plan Hitler named “the Final Solution”

    On September 1, 1939 Germany started their assault on Poland to reach the their over all goal of Lebensraum or “living space”. Germany thought they were the racial superiors of the world and there first goal was to colonize Poland and make the native Slavs slaves.
  • Britain and France declare war against Germany

    WarAs a response to Germany invading Poland, Britain and France declare war against Germany as allies of Poland. The first acts against each other started several days after when a German U-30 sunk Britain’s Athenia, killing 112 people, 28 of them being Americans. The United States remained neutral, but Britain retaliated by printing 13 tons of anti-Nazi propaganda in Germany. This was only the beginning of the fighting between forces.

    Pearl HarborA day that was said to “live in infamy”, which was the entering of the United States into World War II. The United States had placed an embargo on Japan in 1940, that stopped them from receiving oil to power their Forces. Japan had enough of the United States controlling their resources, motivation the attack. The Japanese had a total of 181 planes that attacked Pear Harbor at 6:00 AM on December 7, 1941.     United States Declare war on JapanAs a result of the tragic event at Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt and the American people wanted revenge on Japan. Even though the United States wanted to stay neutral in the World War, this attack, in a way, forced them to take sides. On December 8th, 1941, the day after the attack, Roosevelt stood before Congress proposing a declaration of war against the Empire of Japan. His declaration had only one vote against, officially putting Japan and the United States at war.

    Battle of MidwayKnow as one of the more important battles of the Pacific Campaign in WWll. We put a huge dent in the Japanese air force and led victory through out the battle. the battle was held in the Pacific, which was the Japanese plan to eliminate the United States and win. It didn’t work out in their part.

    D-DayUS and Allied troops invade through Normandy, France, Belgium, and Germany, which led to the surrender of the Germans. On June 6, 1944, Dwight D. Eisenhower lead an invasion against Germany by bringing in over 176,000 troops and 20,000 different vehicles to the shores of Normandy, to seize Normandy and eventually push deeper into the German’s territory. This day eventually lead to the surrender of Germany on May 7, 1945.

    Death of HitlerAdolf Hitler and the German Empire had made it evident that the war was not going their way and the Soviets were closing in. While Hitler’s staff tried convincing him to escape to the mountains, he had made it public that he would take his own life that very day. He and his mistress went to the bunker at around 3:30 pm and not soon after a gunshot was heard by the staff. Hitler and his mistress were dead.

    SurrenderThe German army was surrounded from all sides by American and Great Britain troops. There were no axis powers to help them, and they were headed downwards. The German Forces surrendered in Italy on May 2, 1945, just three days after their leader Adolf Hitler had died. The surrender was only verbal on May 2, but was official on May 8, 1945 also called V-E Day. Although the war was over, people all over Europe still felt the brutality of the war.

    The United States bombs Japan

    AttackThe US drops two atomic bombs to quickly end the war and causes Japan to surrender. Japan continued to fight the US even after the war in Europe ended. To end the war quickly, on August 6, 1945 president Truman had an atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima, Japan and another dropped on August 9, 1945 in Nagasaki, Japan. Over 118,000 Japanese died and lead Japan to finally surrender on August 14, 1945.
