    The Holocaust

    The Holocaust was the largest genocide of the 20th century. Adolf Hitler was the commander of the Nazi Army in Germany where jewish people were the prime target for killing. They also killed gypsys, homosexuals, communist and phyisicaslly or mentally disabled people. Overall, about 11 million people were killed, this included me, women, and children. People during th holocaust were killed in various ways, the most popular were concentration camps where people were torchured, gassed or burned ali
  • Blitzkrieg

    Blitzkrieg is a word that originated in Germany meaning "lightening War". The word Blitzkrieg was shown in early 1935 but was really demostrated when Germany invaded Poland using "armoured warfare". Blitzkrieg is attacking and breaking through the enemie's denfense lines by using fast powerful, and highly armoured attacks.
  • Japan Invades China

    Japan invades China is also known as the Second Sino-Japanese War. It was a military conflict fought between the China and Japan. Japan fought with some economic help from Germany, the Solviet Union, and the US.
  • Munich Conference

    The Munich Conference was an agreement in 1938 between Hitler (Nazi Germany), and the French and British prim minister. The conference was to make an agreement with Hitler that he wouldnt use his military in the future. Hitler signed the agreement and promised not to but later on ended up attacking the rest of Czechoslovakia.
  • Non-Aggression Pact

    When Hitler started to feed Poland empty promises, the people started to think Hitler would invade Poland for his own gain. Stalin then presented and signed a non-aggression pact with Hitler. This pact promised to never attack each other.
  • Germany Invades Poland

    After Hitler and Stalin signed the non-aggresion pact, Hitler decided to invade Poland anyways. On September 1st he sent tanks and boming airplanes into Poland. He was using blitzkrieg military strategy to defeat his opponents. After a few weeks, Hitler's army wiped out Poland and then World War II started.
  • Battle of Britain

    During the summer of 1940, Germany invaded the coast of France with their navy and raided the skies with their airforce. Germany had about 2,000 planes flying over Britain and dropping bombs. The Britain'ss airforce used a new device to detect the Germany planes around them called a radar. Germany and Britian went back and forth bombing each other's cities.
  • Lend-Lease Act

    The lend and lease act was a law that was passed in 1941. The law was between nations fighting the Axis powers. It stated that the united states could send the other nations military equpitment and supplies with out them having to pay right away.
  • Operation Barbarossa

    Operation Barbarossa was the code name for Germany's plan to invade the Soviet union. The operation was named after a Holy Roman Emperor. The attck was led by Hitler, and ended up going down as the largest military operation in history in manpower and casualties.
  • Pearl Harbor

    After the Japanese attmpted to keep peace with the US, they then ordered the Japanese navy to get ready for an attack on US. They bombed Pearl Harbor, which was the largest US naval base in the pacific. The attack nearly destroyed the whole US pacific fleet
  • Wannsee Conference

    The wannsee conference is also know as the "final solution". 15 Nazi officals and government officals from Germany met up to discuss the situation with the jews. They discussed wiping out the entire population of jew in Europe
  • Bataan Death March

    The Bataan Death March was led by the Japanese. Filipinos and American soldiers of war were led on a march to a camp. Along the way, they were torchured and killed. None of the people on the march survived before getting to the camp.
  • Battle of Midway

    Once the Japan started to succeed in taking over islands, their next stop was Midway, an island northwest from Hawaii. The allies ended up stopping the Japanese by breaking a Japanese code and knew they were heading to Midway. They then attacked the Japanese ships on their way inland.
  • Battle of Stalingrad

    Battle of Stalingrad was an attack on Stalin in Germany by Hitler. He hoped to gain the Soviet oil fields and destroy the city. He burned house and fought for weeks. During the winter he ended up surrounding the left-overs of the city and Stalin and his troops, he barracaded them and cut off all supplies until they finally surrendered.
  • D-Day

    D-day was a code name for the US invasion of Normandy, France. This was the largest seaborne attack in history. About 1,000 German men died while about 10,000 men from the allied powers died.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    When Americans captured the town of Aachen in Germany, Hitler was mad. He ordered his troops to break through the US lines and gain back the town. The Germany army drove tanks for miles until they came to allied lines and broke through. After a month of fighting the Germans were pushed back and the battke ended in a great number of deaths for both sides.
  • Battle of Iwo Jima

    Iwo Jim was an island off of Japan that the US wanted. They wanted it as a base for bombers to reach Japan. The island was heavily defended by more than 20,700 japanese soliders. Only 200 of the japanese soliders survived after the battle for the island, leaving 6,000 US marines dead. This was the greatest amount of deaths in any battle in the pacific area at this time.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    The battle of Okinawa was an attack on japan on their land in 1945. The us marines invaded the land and japan responded by sending 1,900 kamikaze attacks on the american soliders. Once the marines reached land the fighting got more extreme. More than 7,600 americans died while Japan lost 110,000 lives. The two generals leading the Japanese army then comitted suicide instead of surendering.
  • V-E Day

    V-E day was the day celebrated for the unconditional surrender of Nazi, Germany's armed forces. This marked the end of World War II in Europe.

    The bombing of Nagasaki was an atomic bomb dropped on the city of Nagasaki, Japan by the united states. The bombing was three days after the city of Hiroshima, Japan was bombed by the united states as well. The Manhattan Project was completed that August, and the Allied
  • V-J Day

    This is the day where Japan anounced that they surrendered from the WWII, which also ended World War Two. There is many different dates for V-J Day due to the time zone differences all over the world, but August 14th, 1945 was when the surrendering of Japan was announced to the United States.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Once Stalin died in Germany, the Soviet Union was more willing to working things out with the US. The soviet created a peace treaty with Japan and Austria. After a few years Geramny's army grew into a fearing object. They then created it's own military pact with seven Eastern Europe countries known as the Warsaw Pact.
