    Japenese invasion of Manchuria

    After a chinese-japenese incident called the Mukden Incident. The japenese army took control into their own hands and acted without orders from the central government. This caused the japenese civillian government to be crippled. After reports of success, the government decided to continue with the invasion.

    Munich Confrence

    The leaders of great Britian, France and Italy allowed for Germany to annex Chekslavakia. Came as a result of many negotiations with hitler. When hitler wouldn't stop nagging the countries, he started to demand for more. After a while the countries just wanted hitler to leave them alone. This is what's called appeasement.
  • Non-Agression Pact

    Created only a few days before the begining of WW2. Stated that certain parts of eastern europe were under Germany's influnce, and some parts were under Soviet's influence. They agreed to not attack each other. also they agreed to not become allies with a third party that might attack the other.
  • Germany invades Poland

    Marked the beggining of WW2 in europe. Germany won over the control of poland. Poland had to wait for relief from england and france. Because Poland had allies, that is what sparked the WW2 conflict.
  • Blitzkrieg

    Germany's term for "lightning war". A military tactic to disorganize the enemy. Usually use centralized firepower. This type of warfare limits use of artillery.

    The Holocaust

    A major example of Anti-Semitism. Germanys leader Hitler abused his power and did not like the jewish people. Any jewish person, disabled person, and also about five million non-jewish victims were put into concentration camps. these camps were prisons that starved, and torchured all of those inside. Many victems were gassed to death, Germany was considered a genocidal country.
  • Lend Lease Act

    An act to promote the defense of the U.S. The program supplied allied countries with food, oil, and other materials. about 50.1 billion dollars of supplies were shipped. This act ended the U.S's neutrallity.

    Opperation Barbarossa

    Durring WW2 this was the code name for Nazi Germanys invasion of Soviet Union. The largest invasion in the history of warfare. Germany had many substantial victories. When germany stalled on the outskirts of moscow, soviet union soldiers fought back. The germans lost bc of this mistake.
  • Pearl Harbor

    The attack of the headquarters of the United States Pacific Fleet. The Japenese bombed all of the ships, and many Americans died. This was a surprise attack. This was the main cause of the United States entering World War 2.

    Bataan Death March

    Happened in the Phillipines during WW2. Japenese were responsible for 2,500-10,000 filipino and 100-650 american deaths. Most of these were prisioners of war. March described as a severe physical abuse to prisioners and civillians by the japanese.

    Battle of Midway

    The island of midway was an important stratigic island for japan. The japenese were trying to sneak up on the americans. The americans managed to decode the japenese plan. The U.S army invaded the midway islands first. Japenese lost 4 aircraft carriers. The U.S won the battle and now use it for refueling ships.

    Battle of Stalingrad

    Germany and its allies fought the Soviet Union for control of the city Stalingrad. Began late summer. Germany managed to push the soviet union back a ways. But the soviet union pushed back and trapped the german army. the germans ran out of supplies. they eventually had to give up.
  • DDay

    This is the allied invasion of normandy, during ww2. This event was a major turning point in the war. Was led by Dwight D.Eisenhower. Was a seaborn invasion. over 2400 americans died. Soldiers were transported from ships by higgens boats. They werent very stable. Americans were in charge of Beaches Omaha, and Utah. Britian gaurded Gold and Sword beaches. Canada gaurded beach juno. Was a very bloody battle. we were able to push germany out of france.

    Battle of the Bulge

    Germany was being pushed back into the west by the Americans. This was the Germans last attempt to win. Desperatly they tried to break up the Americans and the Britians. There was a savage winter combat. Hitler commited suicide.

    Battle of Iwo Jima

    A major battle for the U.S army. They managed to successfully capture the island from the japenese imperial army. Was one of the bloodiest battles. 26,000 american casualties and about 18,000 japenses casualties.
  • Battle of Okinawa

    Codenamed operation iceberg. While island hopping, the americans planned to use this island as a base for air opperations. They needed this island in order to invade the mainland of japan. The japenese fought with a lot of ferocity. There were kimicazi fighters, willing to die. America ended up winning,
  • V-E Day

    Victory in Europe day. Hitler officially surrendered. Considered the end of world war 2 in europe. Many people celebrated.European allied forces were extremly pleased with their work.
  • The bombing of Hiroshima

    Only use of nuclear warfare in history. The United States dropped nuclear bombs on japan. The U.S dropped the bombs because the japanese refused to agree to surrender. The Allied Manhattan Project are who created the bomb. Hiroshima was a minor supply and logistics camp for the japenese military.
  • The bombing of Nagasaki

    The U.S felt bad for having to cause such a horrible incident, but were grateful it was not against them. Nagasaki was a great target because of its industrial activity, it was also one of the biggest seaports in japan. Nagaskai was bombed 5 times on a small scale. Also, one of the first uses of atomic bombs in the history of war.
  • V-J Day

    Known as Victory over Japan day. This was the day Japan officially surrendered during world war 2. Surrender was performed on the U.S.S Missouri, in Tokyo Bay. Japan surrendered after the bombing of nagaskai and hiroshima.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Created by Nato. Formally known as the Treaty of Friendship. Was created so that there wouldnt be another world war. Tried to appease all nations.
