    This happened because the "Royla Air Force" defended the Unitied Kingdom instead of the German Air Force. This battle was known as "The litteral Air Battle for England". Germany continuously bombed London for 57 day's. During this 57 days of bombing 32,000 civilians were killed and 87,000 were seriously injured. Two million houses were destroyed in this battle. There were more than 1,000 bombs dropped from enemy planes during this attack.
