Canada's response
Canada became very isolationist in the new years leading up to world war 2, staying out of all international affairs that did not deal with Canada's interests. The Liberal government did not want another war and supported britains policyof appeasement. Canada was just coming out of the derpression at this time, and th government did not want the country plunged back into wartime dept. -

V-E DAY
ww2 allies formally accepted the unconditional surrender of the armed forcesof Nazi Germany and the end of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich. The formal surrender of the occupying German forces in the channel islands was not until may 9th 1945. On april 30th Hitler commited suicide during the battle of berlin, and so the surrender of Germany was authorized by his replacement, president of germany Karl Donitz. -
Nuremburg Trials
Nazi officials were trialed in an International Ribunal Court. 12 out of 22 defendants were sentenced to death, 200 other men were found guilty and given lighter punishements. -
Manhattan Project
Atomic bombs were dropped on Hiroshima & Nagaski. Hiroshima collapsed in 45 seconds. Nagaski, the bombed leveled half of the city. -
