    In 1939, German forces attacked Poland from the air when Worl War 2 began. Hitler intended the Blitzkrieg strategy which was characterized by railroads, bombings, and then followed by land invasion with a massive amount of troops. Poland was between two powers, and caused Germany to attack without fear. Within weeks of the invasion, the Polish army was defeated.

    The German Blitzkrieg, also known as the lightning war was a military tactic that required concentration of offensive weapons along narrow fronts. The Blitzkrieg was designed to create disorganization through forces with firepower. In order for it to work successfully, the military was constructed around soldiers, air support, and tanks. The Blitzkrieg required much speed and was important to hit hard and move on to the next target.

    The Battle of Britain was the first major military campaign in history that was entirely fought in the air. The battle was Germany's air forces attempt to gain air superiority from July to September of 1940. The ultimate fail was one of the turning points of World War 2 which preventd Germany from invading Britain.

    The attack on Pearl Harbor was a surpise conducted by the Japanese navy against the United States. The Japanese launched a surprise torpedo attack on the United states naval base in Hawaii. After just 2 hours of bombing, over 2400 Americans were injures, and many ships were either sunk or damaged. The Japanese attack on the United states was an attempt to destroy before the wars beginning announcement.

    The Wannsee Conference was a meeting of Nazi Germany officials on January 20, 1942. The conference had a purpose to ensure the administrative cooperation of governemnt departures. The conference was a pivital moment in the evolution of the final solution. The document constitutes evidence to exterminate the race of people from the high of the Nazi governemnt.

    The Battle of the Coral Sea was a major naval battle in the Pacific. The Japanese were planning to take control of the sea with an invasion. When they landed, they came under attack from aircraft planes of the American task force. Both sides suffered with damage, and the battle left the Japanese without enough to cover attack.

    The Battle of Midway was considered to be one of the must decisive battles of World War 2. It destroyed Japans naval strenght while Americans destroyed the aircraft carriers. On June 4, 1942 United States aircraft sunk and attacked 4 Japanese carriers and forced the Jadmiral to withdraw. The Japanese Navy lost its aircraft carrier forced in the battle, and the fleet were retreated.

    The battle of Stalingrad was the successful defense on the city of Stalingrad. Nazi Germany and its Allies fought the Soviet Union for control of Stalingrad.     The British Army invaded Italy along the Italian Peninsula in 1943. The Italian government originally and secretly agreed for Allied terms to surrender, but no public announcement was made. The invasion of Italy was the Allied landing on the mainland of Italy, and was successful during the Italian campaign.

    D Day was also known as the Battle of Normandy which began when American, Canadian, and British forces landed on 5 beaches. The invasion was one of the largest military assaults in history and required planning. On Junes 6, 1944 the Allies invade Western Europe in the attack of history. The Normandy landings were called the beginning of teh end of war in Europe.

    The battle of the Bulge was a major German campaign launched on the Western Front toward the end of World war 2 in Europe. The Germans launched the last major of the war, and attempt to push the Allied front line west from France to Belgium. The battle created a bulge pushing through the American defensive line, and was known to be the largest fought on the Western front.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Battle of Iwo Jima was a major which captured the island from the Japanese army. On February 19th, the American soldiers made their first strike on the Japanese islands of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima was defeated by 23,000 Japanese troops through caves and underground tunnels. Other than the difficulty, the American Marines wiped out all forces after 1 month.

    The Okinawa campaign involved 287,000 United States troops, against the Japanese army. The battle was known to be the largest assault in Worl War 2 of the Pacific War. Okinawa has been referred as "typhoon of steel" and was the bloodiest battle in the Pacific.

    VE day was also known as victory in Europe day. This was a public holiday to mark the Allies acceptance of World War 2. The main concern of Germany was to keep away from being taken as a prisoner. On this day, both the United States ans Great Britain celebrated the big victory day.

    On August 6, 1945 the worlds very first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. Approximately 80,000 people were killed, and by the end of the year many more were to be dead. The atomic bomb dropping of Japan marked the end of World War 2. The United States was the first to use the atomic weapon during war, and many historians believed it ignited the Cold War.
