Germany and Russia went into battle in Stalingrad, a Russian city. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost for Germany and Russia. The Red Amry defeted the Nazis. This loss caused the Germans to start retreating from the Eastern Front. -
Battle of Saipan
Know as one of the biggest carrier battles in World War 2. It was a sea and air battle between the US and Japanese of the coast of Saipan. Thirty thousand men fought on Japan's side, but after it was over, one thousand remained. Civilians there ended up comminting suicide because they feared US rule. -
Battle of Okinawa
This battle was caused by the US trying to capture Okinawa to use it as a staging area for an invasion of the main lands. This battle was fought between the US and Japan. Twelve thousand US soldiers were killed, and seventy thousand Japanese soldiers were killed. This was the final land battle of World War 2. This battle is known to be the Pacific theaters "deadliest" days.
