The Holocaust basically was a time when the nazis and Hilter used concentration camps to kill 6 million jews and other races. They did this using hangings, ovens, etc. Ended in 1945.

Carl Vinson was the longest serving congressman in GA. During WW2 about 20 months before Pearl Harbor, he passed two bills increasing plane and ship production. This helped the USA get back up on its feet after Pearl Harbor.

Adolf Hitler and his nazi party came to power in Germany and they allied themselves with Italy and Japan believing in world domination. When Adolf Hitler invaded Poland in 1939, this event caused France and Britain to declare war on Germany.

Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Hawaii was bombed and torpedoed by the Japanese Military. That day, FDR gave a speech to congress explaining the event and formally asking congress if they could start a war with Japan. Congress passed this, and on this day this was the day the US entered the war.

Liberty ships are ships that ship cargo over to the allied powers such as Britain and France. The company that built them was Southeast Shipbuilding Corportation.

The Yalta Conference was the 2nd meeting between Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, and FDR when the war was winding down. They decided on Germany's unconditional surrender. They also talked about plans for the post-war period.

An atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima to try and force Japan's surrender. It immediatly killed 80000 people and ended up killing more due to radiation. First bomb that was ever dropped.

A nuclear bomb was dropped on Nagasaki 3 days after Hiroshima. This bomb killed an estimated 40000 people. On August 15, the emperor of Japan announced the surrender of Japan because of the bombs.
